Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
Without reading more than half the post now, its very late. But anyone who still hasnt read The Secret History its about time to catch up. Jack Parsons, Milford and others talked about how the atom bomb, which were tested around Roswell among other places, opened up a hole in the space fabric as soon after people started reporting strange sightings and strange creatures.
So its suggested that these grays and other strange crreatures sightings are really lodge inhabitants. Notice how we saw the Atombic bomb test before all lodge hell broke loose. I loved how they gravitated to the Convenience store, making this their first home. Bob and Little Mike are conduitdns between two worlds.
The ??? Giant was already here, looking exactly lile in Part 1. As i suspected all along he is some sort of all knoeing God creature. Thd highest being in the White Lodgd.

Laura is the godhead/starchild.
Go with it, y'all. I love it.

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
I loved this episode. A few thoughts -- a couple of which I heard on the Afterbuzz podcast:
1. Bob and Mike lived above a "convenience store" when they were committing murders together, yes? And of course a convenience store figured prominently here. Seemed like a veritable hotel for woodsmen/hoboes.
2. The girl finds an Abe Lincoln penny. One mundane thing that struck me about this is how little we value a penny now, whereas it was actually worth something in 1950. Perhaps more importantly, the podcast says that the actor who played the Woodsman is a Lincoln impersonator in real life.
3. The music was great. I'm not a big NIN fan, but I appreciated the performance more with the lyrics on closed caption. Digging with fingers and such; reminded me of the letter under Laura's fingernail, to say nothing of the hobo/zombies performing surgery on EvilCoop. I loved the use of Panderecki's "Threnody to the victims of Hiroshima." The 1930s music (by Lynch?) was lovely.
4. I'm surprised people think the bug is Laura. Isn't it the experiment's bubbled BOB, escorted by the woodsmen? I'm thinking the Giant's Laura bubble was headed elsewhere. We lost sight of it over the Great Lakes, but I thought it was heading northwest, not toward New Mexico. Maybe we haven't seen the Laura bubble arrive on Earth yet?

So is BobCooper still alive? Is Bob still in his stomach. Can't wait to see what he acts like when/if he wakes up.

Notice that the bug girl looks like Nadine (and wears a similar dress) and a woman working at a diner and a mechanic are the 3 shown falling asleep to the broadcast. Possible Nadine, Ed, Norma connection.

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
This was it, this was all the things i'd dreamed of in the weeks leading up to the return of Twin Peaks.
I've enjoyed the series, sometimes a lot, so far, but this was the first episode to make me truly feel something - an experience on par with Episode 14 and Episode 29. Narrative journey was replaced by something that was truly challenging, expansive and thrilling. It suggests something profound and beyond normal television. Kubrick's 2001 equivalent. I had to sit for a good half an hour afterwards recovering - where other people correctly described the Nuke segment as beautiful, i found it really quite terrifying. An episode to knock us off our feet.
Seeing how this level of mythology expansion is incorporated into the narrative is going to be exciting. Laura is the one.

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
That.. could make a lot of damn sense actually. If this is an Annie situation where they're changing the past and not just a flashback. Then Coop literally has to find a new Laura in the world. I like that and it really clicks.thedougpa wrote:It seems to me that Laura has been reborn in 1956.
