Your reactions when the first episode hits

Post by Boy »

Will you be:

1. Crying
2. Shocked
3. Still not believing it
4. Having coffee & donuts while watching
5. Afraid
6. Bitter over some things they changed
7. Watching it backwards to find every little secret
8. Skipping it & watching something else instead
9. Watching it naked
10. Watching it wrapped in plastic in your room with red curtains to get an authentic Lynch experience
11. something else, what?

12. all of the above, at four in the morning local time zone and unable to sleep afterwards
I am trying my best not to be disappointed by changes (it's one of the reasons I'm following spoilers: I know I need time to digest some things). I'll also probably be too excited to watch it all in one go... ten minutes, pause, breathe, digest what I'm watching, ten more minutes, pause, coffee, breathe...

13. Thinking.

About what I just have watched. Which is impossible to predict. Because I haven't watched it yet.

My only requirement is to be alone, ha. I'll enjoy rewatching with family/friends, but I gotta be alone the first time I see each episode.

I don't know but I definitely plan on taking the following day off from work so I can rewatch it once or twice and discuss it here/elsewhere and read the reactions from everyone online.

Generally, as the date gets closer, I start downplaying expectations. Works out better than forcing it to compete with the vague fanfic I have in my head.

if they decide to release the episodes onto itunes as they air, I will be watching with coffee.

if not, I will be waiting until they are 5+ episodes in to sign up for Showtime's streaming service so i can start with a nice binge.

I expect to have a stupid smile on my face for several days. And yes, I'll watch it alone the first time for certain. Still contemplating if I should be naked or not.
This is - excuse me - a damn fine cup of coffee.

11. Watching it with my wife and kids. Then watching it again every day as I plan the Twin Peaks viewing parties for the subsequent episodes.

Back when I was 19 in 1990, every subsequent episode had a bigger group. When the finale hit, there were people crying, cursing, and/or throwing shit at the TV. Can't wait to do it over again.

Would it be strange to say I'll try and keep it for the coming Saturday to enjoy it with a beer when the kids are down? In the UK I can guarantee we'll get it on Monday 9pm. The same time as Game Of Thrones and Vinyl or any other prime time. If the US gets it on Sunday night, we usually get it on Monday. However I do know in Game Of Thrones's instance, Sky Atlantic do show it at the same time as US, Monday 2:00am.

Regardless, I don't think I would fully appreciate it unless I was in my zone, chilled with a few beers. I binged the first 3 seasons and Game Of Thrones this way. The Mrs works in the wedding industry and was usually away at weekends. I also binged the The Entire Mystery Blu-Ray this way last year too. Maybe I'm just looking forward to the beers because the bambino had me up at 6am today!
Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song, and there's always music in the air.

Most likely, I'll be sat there in my pyjamas and dressing gown at 12.30am, drinking hot chocolate, starting to watch as soon as the episode becomes available on my iTunes series pass. Just have to hope I don't have an early morning start! Even if it gets shown on a UK network earlier in the evening, I'm happy to wait a couple of hours and avoid the internet!
