I just revised my rating for 28 to a B. But D though? Wow - that's harsh. Even Wrapped In Plastic gave it 3 stars. Was it the Miss Twin Peaks contest that did it for you?

I just don't think it gels in any way. The contest itself feels unworthy of the Twin Peaks universe. I dislike the costumes, the dancing, Tim Pinkle, Windom Earle's disguise and most of all I dislike that my least favourite character (way ahead of Evelyn Marsh), Lana, gets to be a major character. The broom closet scene is probably my least favourite of the series, even if Ian Buchanan tries hard to save it. And what's even worse, the Annie/Coop romance which I'd enjoyed up to that point turns ridiculous with that horrid forest metaphor, and the love scene has no steam whatsoever.

I'll stop with the hating now. I like several of the later episodes a lot. In fact, I'd give 23 a B+ too. And 25 and 27 are both big faves with me. And, like I said, I do enjoy Nadine's way of saying "NEXT!" at the slideshow. :)

Yes, they are spending a lot of time wrapping up or trying to wrap up plot lines, so not much is really happening in the episode. The Miss TP Contest does last too long, however, I love how it is filmed after the strobes go off. Nice to see a little love for Dick Tremayne!

The update looks great -you always choose the best shots. Makes even a lackluster episode thrilling!

What about personal comments -why you love a certain part, etc. The memorable quotes or so forth. Either way, it's aces!

Well, I'm still deciding what extras to put on there. Whilst it is tempting to have myself blabber on about this or that, I'd rather leave that to other people who can leave a comment under each episode. I'm also not too keen on talking about little things people might have missed, (goofs, clues and such) after all, one of the joys of watching the series is finding out those scenes for yourself.

Good overview on ep. 23 too. I love it.

One question, though: Why the "sic" after "Shelly"? Isn't that how it's spelled in the presskit and the scripts?

Thanks for pointing that out before I did any more. Looks like I misspelled her name all along.

Aha. I thought maybe this was a chance/chants type deal. :)

Not everyone! And those damned gold box subtitles got it wrong. Again. Unsurprisingly, I guess, since it's wrong even in the script. :)

Yeah, I always thought it was "chance" without even the possibility of chants when I saw it in Spring 1990.

Then again, until the internet came along, I thought BOB told Cooper, "COOP! What have death shown thee?!" instead of "what happened to Josie."

Hey Jerry,

Great work on the site -- it's well-conceived and beautifully presented. Anyway, I'd love to hear your reasoning behind the grade you give any particular episode (I agree with most of your ratings so far, by the way). Maybe below the grade you could add a quick synopsis of what you feel made the episode soar or sink? This might encourage more pointed critical discussion about the series. Finally, keep up the fantastic work!

Ghostwood - thank you very much. Maybe I will include a one sentence reasoning behind the grade I've given every episode. As a matter of fact, yes I will!
