Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
I'm in the UK, i'll wait until the Tuesday night. I've waited this long, I can wait another day.
I love this quote from DL:
“In the beginning, many years ago, Mark and I – as if lost in the wilderness – as it always is in the beginning, we seemed to find some mountain and we began the climb. And when we rounded the mountain we entered a deep forest, and going through the forest for a time the trees began to thin, and when we came out of the woods we discovered this small town called Twin Peaks. And we got to know many of the people in Twin Peaks and the people who visited Twin Peaks, and we discovered a mystery. And within this mystery were many other mysteries, and we discovered a world, and within this world there were other worlds. That’s how it started, and that’s what brings us here today, and the story continues.”
Why can't I articulate on the spot like that?!?
Anyway - 18 hours of David Lynch directed Twin Peaks. I mean, pardon my French, but that is f**king amazing!

I guess it is, if you get a private VPN or something, so you can't be traced back to your country. Depends if the VPN could turn your net destination into a US one. I don't know how these things work, but it works something like that I guess. But then maybe you need to have a physical adress in United States also or something, to buy a Showtime prenumeration on stream? Here Comes That Bob wrote:Yeah, I figured that.MoondogJR wrote:I don't think it's possible to take a Showtime-subscription in Europe. Here Comes That Bob wrote:
If the show will be aired only on Showtime and Sky, I don't think I'll be able to watch it on TV. I think I'll have to roll with one of these 3 options.
Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
What is the closest thing in the original Twin Peaks to the full heroin David Lynch?
I would argue the 'closed ending' to the Pilot, which is weird and unsettling is the closest to the full heroin Lynch in the Series, followed as a close second by the series finale.

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
I dunno, I think the European ending comes close with the dream sequence and the off-kilter way the mystery is resolved in the basement, but overall wasn't really what Lynch intended and is therefore not "full heroin". I think he intentionally made it a bit bad so it wouldn't get used.mtwentz wrote:What is the closest thing in the original Twin Peaks to the full heroin David Lynch?

I think the closest we've gotten is as you say the series finale but outside the "original Twin Peaks", I'd say FWWM/Missing Pieces. FWWM was TP with less filters, and a darker, weirder, more explicit tale (esp. if you include the Missing Pieces). I think it will be more of that.

Definitely the Black Lodge scenes in the s2 finale.mtwentz wrote:What is the closest thing in the original Twin Peaks to the full heroin David Lynch?

Maddy's murder would get my vote. It's as pure Lynch as anything I can think of.mtwentz wrote:What is the closest thing in the original Twin Peaks to the full heroin David Lynch?

Yes, the murder is heroin, the ending of episode 2 and the season 2 finale. And FWWM (especially the crosswalk sequence with Laura, Leland and Gerrard and off course Laura's dream and Jeffries' appearance) The best fucked up surreal things are heroin. But LSD should have been the better drug of choice to represent this.
Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Maddy's murder is a good shout, still one of the most brutal murders on television. It's impressive how long he lingered on it. I still can't believe they had to film that murder scene three times with Wise, Beymer and Silva. Lee must have been exhausted.Dead Dog wrote:Maddy's murder would get my vote. That episode in general has Lynch's fingerprints all over it, from "J'ai une âme solitaire" to the pale white horse and "it is happening again". I think we're going to get a lot of strong iconic imagery and dialogue throughout the show if they can equal that benchmark.

Personally, for me it's the Convenience Store sequence. Especially on The Missing Pieces. I was watching that the other day and it struck me how sublime the sound editing is in it. Truly terrifying. The fact he can still edit together a scene like that has me more excited than anything.
I hope this ends up being totally bananas.

the heroin analogy works for me because i want it more than anything else in my life and im willing to do anything to get it.NightTimeMyTime wrote:The best fucked up surreal things are heroin. But LSD should have been the better drug of choice to represent this.

Yeah, I'm sorry Sherilyn has hurt feelings, but after all her Twitter rages so far, what does she expect?vicksvapor77 wrote:Sherilyn retweeted this, among many other fan tweets saying she should be there. Sigh.

And ultimately, Showtime has a big investment in this, and they'll put up there who they believe will represent the show best and give it the most buzz.

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Not only that but she filmed three days or so. Does she really think she has a large enough role to warrant promoting the show, when presumably these other actors are main cast with much larger roles? There is no logic in her anger or madness since she knows she only filmed for a few days.mtwentz wrote:vicksvapor77 wrote:Yeah, I'm sorry Sherilyn has hurt feelings, but after all her Twitter rages so far, what does she expect?
