Please help me identify this Badalamenti piece!

OK, from the video above, at 1:11:22 it starts. I'm almost certain this is a Badalamenti piece, though I could be wrong. It sounds so familiar -- I think it's from Blue Velvet but it's not any of the tracks included on the official soundtrack or listed on IMDb. Is it from Twin Peaks? Or something else? It's from no later than 1997, I know that. Someone please help! It's driving me crazy.

YES! Thank you! I don't know why I didn't think to even look at the Lost Highway OST.

Is that track even used in the film, though? I don't think it is. It sounds so familiar to me but that just may be from seeing the doc I linked.

Hmm I can't recall where this was used in the film either. I feel like it might have been briefly during a transition shot? Reminds me a bit of the "Great Northern Piano Tune" in the "Twin Peaks Archive."

Yeah it has a very Peaks-y sound! Its sound and atmosphere also reminds a bit of Dance of the Dream Man and Audrey's Dance. But it also sounds a lot to me like this one piece from Blue Velvet -- dunno what it's called but I think we hear it just before Jeffrey finds the ear. They seem to share a similar or same brief chord change, kind of dissonant-sounding.

I think I've watched LH enough times to say with confidence that it's not in the film. Besides my memory, I just can't picture it being in there -- it doesn't quite fit the darker atmosphere of LH and like I said sounds more at home in Twin Peaks. I could see it playing during some scene at a quaint little club, like maybe the Slow Club for that matter. Man, Badalamenti is the best. I'll have to dig up my Twin Peaks Archive files and check out that Great Northern Piano Tune you mention, I vaguely recall what it sounded like. I think there were a number of variations on that one, going up to late S2 when John Justice Wheeler is dining with Audrey and Ben, haha.

You're welcome! I immediately recognized the song, so I would be shocked if it wouldn't have been used somewhere.

Badalamenti is my long-time musical hero. Such beautiful compositions. I think you're right re: LH. I had a quick skim through and couldn't hear it!
Now you've got me wondering about the Blue Velvet piece too - I'll have to have a look/listen!
