Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I remember seeing an interview with her after her social media complaints accusing Lynch and Frost of sexism where she was very positive about Twin Peaks and once again praising David Lynch. I'm not trying to psychoanalyze her as I'm hardly qualified but given the wild shifts in tone, she's probably...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I think a title sequence can function to set the tone establishing how the town has changed. The sawmill probably doesn't exist as it did in the 90's. Something with the same music but the subtle or not so subtle changes to the old landmarks could be quite evocative. The pilot had an extended title ...

Re: Star Wars

I took my niece and nephew to see Rogue One on Christmas. I hadn't heard much about it and didn't have great expectations, with it being another example of Disney turning Star Wars into a big corporate cash cow fan fiction franchise. I have to say though I was pleasantly surprised, and thought it wa...

Re: Possible SPOILERS: S3 casting & returning actors/characters

I know we can take what IMDB say with a pinch of salt, but did anyone notice that Robert Foster is down as Sheriff Frank Truman? Also Caleb Landry Jones is Steve! Pretty good rule of thumb with the IMDB... if a film/television project has been released, the credits on the page is generally pretty r...

Re: Which actors from the Original Series will make surprise cameos in Season 3 of Twin Peaks?

I was also very disappointed to learn MJA wouldn't be involved and had trouble imagining a Twin Peaks without him, but it's pretty absurd to even entertain a notion that Lynch would take any part in orchestrating a publicity stunt that involved him taking on rape/incest/murder accusations just so th...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

Michael Mann essentially remade "L.A. Takedown" as "Heat"... or perhaps more accurately he previously tried to convert his script for "Heat" into a television pilot which wasn't picked up and released as the standalone film "L.A. Takedown", before returning to...

Re: Which actors from the Original Series will make surprise cameos in Season 3 of Twin Peaks?

I totally missed this thread and gave my thoughts in the SHoTP thread, but given the quirk with her character in that book it's highly likely Annie will have a surprise appearance. I'd also like to think Ontkean would be back for a smaller appearance, and I have my hopes up about Keifer Sutherland a...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

sneakydave, I didn't notice that, and I don't believe anyone on Reddit picked it up if it's there.... Reddit posters have a way of picking every detail in shows like this clean. I have no doubt Reddit posters will give this forum a run for its money hyper-analyzing the new season of Twin Peaks. Spea...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

It seems to me Annie could be key to many of the incongruities in the dossier and the narrative we know of. If Annie was somehow erased from existence, that could lead to a kind of butterfly effect chain reaction that would effect many aspects of Norma's life, including possibly how long their mothe...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

I do think there is a difference between how Lynch has handled fractured/non-linear/alternate realities in LH , MD and IE and the very literal implications of there being physical documents in a dossier proving the existence of alternate timelines. With Lynch's previous work it was always more symbo...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

I really enjoyed the book even if it wasn't quite what I expected. I missed the announcement if there was one that this would not be a bridge between the second and third seasons, and it took a while before I realized there would hardly be any material that covered that took place after the end of s...

Re: The Owls Are Not What They Seem

So I just finished The Secret History of Twin Peaks, which makes in explicitly clear that indeed, the owl lore in Twin Peaks is very much connected to the real life lore surrounding owls and UFOs. I wonder if that was the inspiration from the very start or if it became a retroactive association only...

Re: FWWM reference on the show "Atlanta"?

Atlanta is an excellent show and anyone dismissing it because it involves rap is doing so out of ignorance (It's a similar thing I often encountered with people who dismiss Breaking Bad because they think it's about meth). I'm not much of a hip hop or rap fan TBH... I've had phases where I was into ...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Has anyone listened to the audiobook yet? I've heard that the digital versions of the book should be skipped because of the visual element, but how does that translate to the audio version? Is it more of a companion to the hardcover version or can it stand alone?

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

Much of the reaction to last nights episode of Mr. Robot has referenced David Lynch. Indeed I thought it was one of the more genuinely Lynchian Lynch homages, particularly because of the sound.
