Re: Why does he smash his head into the mirror?

I've always viewed the final shot of Twin Peaks as sort of a call back to that first scene of the pilot, where Josie looks at herself in the mirror and applies makeup. A big theme of the show is the deceptive nature of appearances, the power of lies. Josie seems content with her mirror image, almost...

Re: Funniest moment in the series

Shelly's reenactment of Laura's funeral with a napkin holder, hands down.

Second place tie between Albert's reaction to Big Ed saying "Well, and then I shot her eye out" and Bobby Briggs' "Afraid? Afraid? I'm going to turn it upside down!"

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I'm really not expecting to see Agents Desmond and Stanley back at all, and I really can't see how the story would call for it. Unless of course Chet and Sam somehow represent two halves of Cooper's fractured psyche/soul, in keeping with the theory that the Teresa Banks investigation part of FWWM is...

Re: Twin Peaks Character Series - 82 entries, runs thru 5/19

Wow, thank you so much for writing these. The Chet and Stanley entry was great. I was admittedly never that interested in their characters, but your write-up has really made me re-ponder their symbolism and significance. I always just sort of wrote them off as the Dear Meadow versions of Cooper and ...

I completely agree with all of this! He's not as vibrant as the most iconic characters, it's easy to lose him in the background of Coop's soft ramblings, Margaret's enlightened-kitsch, Laura's sluggish non sequiturs, Lucy's repetitions and so many others. I hear from a lot of fanfiction writers tha...

Re: Least Favorite Storyline in Twin Peaks

I think a lot of these storylines are also hurt by the fact that Laura's killer is revealed. Had they never revealed who the perpetrator was, I think James/Evelyn and Little Nicky might be a little better. All of the storylines pre-reveal had that added element of suspicion that it's participants mi...

Re: What is the general take on 'Who killed Teresa'?

"Leland's been a good vessel, but he's full of holes" BOBLeland said that during his 'confession' to Cooper and Truman, and it suggests the process by which BOB gradually eroded Leland's moral core over a long period of time. I don't think the BOB/Leland relationship is merely just BOB sit...

I would've thought the woman who wants her hot water turned on was Nadine's counterpart, but that makes a lot of sense too.

Re: What is the general take on 'Who killed Teresa'?

Yeah, I'm of the opinion that it's always Leland as well. The movie is just more explicit about this than the tv show is. BOB is a real force however. My reading of BOB is of sort of a 'devil-on-the-shoulder' trope that pushes and compels weak persons to do things, perhaps things they want to do but...

Re: What's up with the creepy old woman in FWWM

Is the Icepack Woman the Deer Meadow version of the Log Lady? I've read others interpret Deer Meadow as an evil/mirror/bizarro Twin Peaks, with Deputy Cliff Howard being Andy's counterpart, Sheriff Cable being the evil Sheriff Truman, and Irene from Hap's diner is the rude version of Norma. You coul...

Really fascinating theory about Andrew putting the fish in the percolator... Now I can't help but imagine him lurking around the corner of all the scenes in TP. Was he at the Blue Pine Lodge the morning Laura washed up beside it? If the killer was never revealed, I'm certain that the investigation w...

Re: POLL: Predict BOB for S3 [Book spoilers permitted]

Random thought I had: this is probably more for the alternate series 3 fanfic thread than anything I actually expect or would want to see, but it struck me that one solution to "the BOB problem", sticking to what's already established, might involve going back to the dropped thread of for...

Re: Who will be the next mayor of Twin Peaks?

Would be really funny if the new mayor was Walter Olkewicz as a "reformed" Renault cousin.

But it's going to be interesting to see if the mayor is another Milford type, a sort of ceremonial oaf that pops up randomly and with little consequence, or something else entirely.

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

- Hawk's tone in his portion read to me as kinda, well, douchey. And kinda anachronistic? I was alive in the '80s, but not old enough to remember if "nookie" was slang back then? I dunno, a minor thing, but something I noticed. I don't know if this helps, but I remember seeing an episode ...
