Re: The Supernatural, Silva and the Season 2 Problem

Eater - This is a great, thoughtful post. There is a part of me that wishes TP could have been split into two shows - the realistic, dark tragedy about small-town violence and deviance destroying a fragile human life (see Top of the Lake for a vision of what this show may have looked like), and the ...

Re: Lesli Linka Glatter

I seem to recall hearing mutters about her and Wonder Woman a couple years back. I believe you're confusing her with another great female TV director, Michelle MacLaren (of Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones ), who was signed to WW and then rather unceremoniously let go. Tricia Brock (TP writer-turne...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

holy crap! https://twitter.com/mfrost11/status/767021721157120000 I'm confused. Didn't we learn months ago that Mark Frost would be narrating the audiobook version? I assumed the other actors would only be coming in for their own roles while Frost handled the lion's share of the narration. His twee...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Lynch has often played fast and loose on continuity. There's a fair bit in FWWM that does not bother to match the diary, for example, but that's his prerogative as one of the two central creators vs. spin-off materials he evidently had no interest in. There's a big difference between spinoff materi...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

I'd much rather the change in the tattoo be an implicit retcon (or continuity error) than an explicit cockamamie story point about it having changed over time. But I hope that in the next few weeks, someone in the fandom will be able to get in touch with the Lynch/Frost camp and simply correct the e...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

And yeah, give me anything that's not this degree of carelessness. I'll have an easier time accepting stuff I don't like, but that has a transparent reasoning that led to it (like the retconned year) than plain sloppiness. I feel the opposite. Some degree of continuity error is inevitable in even t...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

About audiobooks: aren't they usually meant for blind people and people who have problems with their eyesight? That's the case at least in my country. I mean, there's no need for fancy pictures if you can't see them. Or am I way off? That may have been their original intended purpose, but I know a ...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

The one downside of these signings is that we buy the book twice, or we wait longer until our events to get it. I may just do the audio upon release and then read it after the signing... But then again do I want to paw through the signed copy? Decisions, decisions... While an audio version ...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Twin Peaks clearly has a need for a continuity department. It's the downside to all the secrecy. Mark and David perhaps were the only ones working on this stuff and had maybe only a few people to fact check with. I dunno about that - from what we've seen of the book, it seems like the TV show's pro...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Question: Was the Smythe name ever actually used on the show? I just searched the scripts for the three episodes Vivian was in, and her name only appears in stage directions. I have MUCH less of a problem with them retconning a name that only appeared in the end credits and in scripts. (Heck, poor M...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Did anyone catch this, or is it just old news? I feel like this is the first time we've heard this officially from Mark Frost: from http://www.monkeysfightingrobots.com/ray-wise-talks-twin-peaks-2017-revival/ That's not actually a quote from Frost. If you follow the link to their source, it's a Dig...

And Doc Hayward not being in prison! Heh. Wrong thread, I know, but...it's not too hard for me to imagine a "between scenes" moment where Truman arrives at the Hayward house and finds Will, repentant and scared. HARRY: How are you, Will? You look tired. WILL: I didn't get much sleep. How ...

Re: Episode 16

Also, Ben Horne is supposedly arrested for Laura's and Maddy's murder. Why would Leland come with them at the Sheriff's Station as his attorney, since Ben is the supposed killer of his daughter and niece. I HATE this. Agreed. It seems that at certain key climactic moments in the story, the writers ...

Re: Beyond Season 3?

It would be at least slightly less difficult to do a S4 now that they have a sort of ground-game, rebuilt sets, closer connections with actors new and old, ect. If the show is massively popular and getting another deal isn't bothersome probably the best time to continue the series with ease would b...
