Re: Poll: What do you want Wisteria/Unrecorded Night to be?

yeah, thats why I doubt Unrecorded is TP. I would think ceremonial EP credit on a high profile project with a legendary director is still enticing to get some salary/proceeds, unless he really hated the scripts and concept DL came up with a burning vengeance or something.

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

yeah, LH is a very male movie. Fred's "read ? read what ?" lines at the intro is a softer, more impotent confrontation than Leo looking at the cigarettes in the TP pilot, declaring "i only want to see one brand of cigarettes in this house." but it's still about masculine dominati...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

yeah, LH is a tricky setup in some regards, since it's like jealous and angry wife murderer-as-protagonist. it's like making Leo Johnson or Hank Jennings the main character. but i still like it. Diane's unrequited love in Mullholland is quite palpable, and beautifully portrayed by Naomi W, bit of an...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

I agree with you on the Hayward dinner scene. I think that season 2 opener is my favorite ep of the original after the pilot, one great scene after another. I love the scene too where Hank Jennings is telling the Hornes that Leo was chopping wood inside when he shot him, and Jerry keeps questioning ...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

I'm not a big fantasy person, so I choose to look at a lot of cosmic/supernatural stuff in TP as abstraction, metaphor, magical realism/ magical thinking. when I first saw the nuclear explosion, my first thought was of Naido, and I thought maybe she was an allusion to Hiroshima/Nagasaki and the 'ugl...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

the only hard documentation I see is the 389 pages in copyright database. I feel like whatever people say in interviews is faulty memory mixed with exaggeration, when Peter Deming said 550 pages to Roger Deakins on the podacast, I think he was trying to express it was big and thick, and he wasnt und...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

yeah, I remember in like 2005 or 2006 or so, he mentioned something he saw that was HD, he could see the screws in the set wall. I like Inland Empire, it's grown on me, but I always feel like I need glasses after watching it. I'm not sure where he's coming from with the 1920-1930's emulsions, I've b...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I believe there was also a shorter script that they showed to Gary and David, the two execs at showtime, in like 2013 or so, that I guess they had written on spec. before they got paid to write a complete draft. I think Mark said in Bushman's book (or maybe I read it somewhere else), it was 2 hours ...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

yeah, I think Lynch even pitched Brando on doing Bovine as a Vanya on 42nd Street/Dogville loose rehearsal format sorta thing to make it easier
on him, but he said the script was too pretentious or something.

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Lynch's own recollections of Brando in Room to Dream arent that flattering either.

he handed like a peeled sticker off an apple he was eating to Mary Sweeney at one point and said 'i have a gift for you' i seem to recall.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I loved What Did Jack Do. I thought it was a fun little stage play that used absurdism, but a lot of universal truths to it, a rigid authority figure interrogating 'the other' and being close minded, dismissive, calling him a communist, etc.

i'll take 13 episodes of that.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

yeah, i cant remember if I read it was monkeys or cows, but he seems to gravitate between those, with Dream of the Bovine also. Lynch was able to have a low cost talking money in What Did Jack Do, worked fine for me.

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

I thought Nanni Moretti's film 'The Son's Room' came sorta close to the pilot , the family that just can't get over the loss, and the Tom Wilkenson and Sissy Spacek performances in 'In the Bedroom' were spot-on with the grieving and the anger on top of it with the killer getting off. and to some ext...
