Re: Candie, Mandie, and Sandie

I miss the potential back in Part 5 when it seemed like they were lodge spirits. Or later on when Candie appeared to have been undermining the Mitchums when they were watching her on the security cam. I loved when Candie swatted one of the Mitchums (can't remember their names), and her reaction. Tha...

Re: Twin Peaks The Return: The Mixed/Moderately Disappointed Thread

Totally agree with FlyingSquirrel. The Vegas stuff was exciting at first because there was this foreboding sense that it was leading to something. The 119 woman and her kid were wonderfully strange, Duncan Todd's initial scene where he insinuates that he's being controlled by someone more powerful (...

I think it was Lynch who voiced the arm.

Do we know if the "Moving Through Time: FWWM Memories" doc is going to be included on this? It'll be a big missed opportunity if it isn't.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I liked the post by Steve Liam that critiqued the Return as a failure in terms of plot. While I applaud experimentation with and deviance from a traditional plot structure, it's a whole other matter to make so many rookie mistakes. I think I've mentioned it elsewhere but one of the things that bugge...

I was thrilled by the scene when she took off her face, because it was wacky and unexpected and seemed to suggest she was gonna have a lot of screen time yet to come.

Yeah, this thread is pointless and the original post should have gone into the profoundly disappointed thread. Sorry, mate.

Re: Twin Peaks The Return: The Mixed/Moderately Disappointed Thread

I think the aspect that I'm perhaps the most mixed on is Sarah Palmer. Her scenes were, without a doubt, some of if not the most compelling of the whole Return. But the implication that she's evil or harboring evil makes me feel very strange about the character overall - I always felt she was one of...

Re: Twin Peaks The Return: The Mixed/Moderately Disappointed Thread

I liked how Cooper leaves a different motel than the one he enters, if that's the same Cooper that left the lodge, if that's the same Cooper that entered the lodge. Stylistic flairs on TR like that, the RR customer changing, Ed's reflection, everything Sarah- I could have taken more of that. And ha...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I've never whipped back and forth on my opinion on any filmed entertainment so dramatically as with this show. Depending on what way I look at it, it could be great or awful. Before those final two episodes, particularly the execrable Part 17, I was leaning towards going up to the "mostly like...

Re: Poll: Criticism of The Return

Bad writing - I guess lack of character development and dropped plotlines would fall into that, but I wouldn't choose one over the other. Stylistically I enjoyed it, aside from some aspects of the cinematography. Some really cool ideas thrown around. But whatever Lynch and Frost were trying to commu...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work

Where are the clichés? I didn't notice any. Where was the fan service? I didn't see any. Where was the originality? In every blinking moment! From someone who is pained by conventional plotting and storytelling, I bow down to this creation. I know the source, I know the pedigree, I trust appreciati...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I'm curious how I'll feel about it down the road. I was frustrated by Mulholland Drive after I first saw it, but I also was bewitched by the beautiful cinematography and passionate performances - I was compelled to watch it again and figure out what I'd seen. Loved FWWM right away. Didn't thin...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work

Sadly just switched my vote to "mixed leaning towards dislike."

It's not sitting very well with me. 18 was great but emphasized how little I cared for the Las Vegas storyline.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Hey all, I'm sad to say that I ultimately am falling into the profoundly disappointed camp. I was among those who was holding out for the final hours to put it all into perspective - not to wrap things up tidily, but to give more weight to what had come before it. There were a lot of great moments t...
