Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

Anyway, I thought of this the other day and was going to ask "Am I the only one who..." which I suppose means that I view this as an unpopular opinion, so here goes: While I think that the Red Room antics of Episode 29 cannot be improved upon, I feel like I'm the only one who, overall, pr...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Fair enough. You're probably right. There are some cracking coincidences that have had me wondering if it's evolutionary pattern recognition over stuff that's bound to occur randomly in a large enough dataset, or simply a statistical improbability that requires skepticism. Stuff like a number not a...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Re: cream corn. Both Lynch and Frost seem to remember things their own way (and Bob Engels remembers things radically differently depending on what day you ask him). Memory is such an interesting and tricky thing. I think I’m repeating myself (although if I have said this before, it was during a lea...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I think Lynch is so superstitious about numbers that he would NEVER rig it. There was one day where he didn’t say one of his phrases (“Pick a number” or whatever), and he freezes as if he’s deciding whether to cut for a retake or finish. He’s like a deer in headlights. It’s hilarious. The ritual mat...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

He's expressed frustration in the past that DL would have creamed corn for lunch and then bring it into the episode without it being in the script etc. Really?! Cream corn is for sure in Harley Peyton’s script (although Lynch did change the scene around): http://www.glastonberrygrove.net/texts/scri...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Interesting that you reference Forster's reactions because it's one of many instances in which a character deadpans as an audience surrogate, not knowing what to make of what they're seeing/hearing, which, as someone else here pointed out in another thread months ago (maybe Axxon?), is also a sign ...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I wonder if it was shot then after the scenes - and change - in Part 18 to fit with them or if he took the names from that scene for P18. The Fireman’s location was right at the end of location filming. I’m pretty sure the “letter”/motel scene was shot first and the Fireman scene was likely scripte...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I believe the Coop/Fireman scene was all Lynch. I can’t remember if I’m actually basing that on anything I’ve read though, or if I’m just guessing. The scene was also meant to be placed somewhere else (not sure where) and was not meant to be the opening scene. That, I’m sure I’ve read multiple place...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I think the names “Richard and Linda” were entirely added. Again, just that specific bit. As far as I know, everything else in P18 was equally L/F. But Mark said he doesn’t know what Lynch meant by adding those names. Also note that both Lynch and Frost have said that Lynch sent Frost all new script...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

Strangely enough, I remember going to the library and taking out this book "The Devil Thumbs a Ride and Other Unforgettable Films" by Barry Gifford, from 1988, and he criticized Blue Velvet a bit in there, right before WAH came around I guess. Heh, one of the later Sailor & Lula books...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I think people will be monitoring his weather and number videos closely. I just had quick scan through his Youtube. He looks the same in all the videos. Almost identical shots of him giving weather reports, sitting in same position, wearing same clothes, same sunglasses. Same with number pulls, wea...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I was never disappointed but reading Frost's conversation book - it's a bit fucked up half of the creators doesn't know anything about Richard and Linda (opening and closing scenes of the season) ((the end of TP?)) Huh? Frost wrote the closing scene with Lynch. The one part he’s saying Lynch added ...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

The broad stroke of a lot of the Mill stuff I think was inventing fake arsons, fake deaths in order to scam insurance companies to pay out. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to decipher details. but I felt like it was the shadow of Double Indemnity, Laura, etc Also Body Heat, as Mark acknowledged ...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

I love Eckhart. But then, I love David Warner. Him hammily turning into his closeup always cracks me up...I think he does it at least twice (by the fireplace in his intro, and at Catherine’s door...the latter doesn’t even make any logical sense but I love it). I also really find Andrew funny. And An...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I do wonder where that LITTLE bit of pristine-looking S2 deleted footage on the Blu Ray came from (the additional Horne home movie footage, the alternate version of the Bobby/Shelly pageant scene, and the extended Andy/Lucy dialogue from E29, as well as a short end of Kyle and Mike goofing off on th...
