Re: Poll: Worst Roadhouse performance
I can't believe ten people said NIN was the worst. It's not a great song by any means, and the staging wasn't very good, but Trent's the best artist on that list above, by a wide margin. But we aren’t judging his oeuvre. We’re judging this one song... aaaaaaaand.... it sucked. But this is the way i...

Re: Poll: Worst Roadhouse performance
Different strokes, that's really all it boils down to. Hey, while we're discussing the number of dimwits on the board, I believe that there are actually many more than just a handful of us. A variety of opinions and perspectives on Season 3 is vastly more interesting and thought provoking than an e...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Ah ok so the argument is that Cooper released something damaging from the Black Lodge - on a cosmic level?
I would tend to agree with that more than any of these definitive ideas about Mr C raping Audrey etc.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I don't understand how Cooper has anything really to do with Richard Horne. Unless you do buy the whole idea of Mr C raping Audrey. What do you mean "buy", that conclusion is pretty evident both from the show and the Frost book. Why on earth would Mr.C refer to Richard as his "son&qu...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I get that, and it’s wonderful for it to be a success and a joy for you. And remember though I am someone who hated the second half of the second season, and aside from the soundtrack is left cold from FWWM. What I loved about Peaks was how tight it was, like a drum, in that first season... yet sti...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
And there's also DKL's decision to use one of the real life owners of the "Palmer" house as opposed to an actress, as well as the throwback to the driving scene from Vertigo - a movie about a man trying to recreate a woman that never existed. This doesn't prove any of the ideas you're sug...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I actually thought if it was going to go in this direction, it should have been both Audrey and Diane. Like after he left the Lodge and is in the clearing, it’s Audrey... they go on the car ride. She sees Diane outside the motel. The sex scene changes faces or alternates... then we’d be saying this...

Re: Poll: Worst Roadhouse performance
Man oh man, this poll is ample proof that some Twin Peaks are quite conformist and tunnel-visioned in their viewpoints. Its just a handful of dimwits but Lissie has been voted for most why? Because her performance makes it obvious she is lip-syncing? Because its too pop-rock and kinda upbeat? Jeez ...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread (SPOILERS)
That's like saying there is no known connection between the Giant and the Fireman. The American Girl is Ronette - but she is shown in a place where her identity is hidden, or she has become an abstraction.

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread (SPOILERS)
Lynch never watched Lost - unless someone here can prove otherwise.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I don't see it as a Back to the Future scenario though - I never saw Cooper step into a time machine DeLorean and travel back to 1989. The whole of season 3 was so anchored in the 'unreal' for want of a better term, maybe I mean 'dream-like.' Admittedly, I feel Lynch works best when there's a clear ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
As far as the songs, perhaps my main disappointment is that not one of them was created specifically for the show. It would have been nice to have had an original Badalamenti and/or Lynch composition, whoever performed it, or an original song from Lynch familiar Reznor. It just felt like a missed o...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline
It seems to me very blase to suggest that Lynch and Frost were amiss in their writing on s3 or sloppy. Isn't the question as to why certain plot elements are unclear or fuzzy? I found s3 overall to have quite a depressing tone to it - that's not something I really demand from tv or film as a viewer ...
