I don't know... IF this is something real, maybe I can picture it as like the Breaking Bad/El Camino situation.
How long can you expand on an ending? Unless Lynch doesn't have any interest in making a conventional 'ending' at all.
Nonetheless, excited to see whatever this is unfold!

Re: What Other Directors/Actors Think of Season 3
Its an obvious indie example, but if I were A24 I would kill to have a Lynch film on our roster. A24 art kid fans love Lynch. You'd think people would be seeking him out and asking for pitches after The Return. Unless his ideas are wildly unreasonable and stubborn, (which I imagine they definitely w...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?
I want to say that '1967' is a weirdly specific thing to respond to that question with, but Kyle has said things on Twitter before that people have gone crazy over for no reason. But the Showtime TP twitter retweeted it, so that's something ... I felt like Frost's ellipses after his obligatory 'happ...

Re: Twin peaks: Nostalgia Fanedit
I just feel that the way Lynch uses the technology available to him goes way beyond any average filmmaker 'shaking the camera'. To me, the digital tools and look of The Return are just ingrained in it the way it tells it's story. In a lot of ways it's almost about how far you can push the technologi...

Re: Twin peaks: Nostalgia Fanedit
Yup I like the lighting and colour better in The Return. The edit seems a little oversaturated and kind of blackened. To try and emulate the look of film for The Return, to me that's kind of missing the point of the medium in which it was made. The show and it's story tap into digital as like a livi...

Re: The slow pace of The Return
I agree totally with the Eraserhead comparison. The only difference being that I can't watch Eraserhead anymore. It's great, but too much for me. In The Return, I felt the pacing was way less dour. I loved watching Dougie eat chocolate cake, it's something that really grounds the more 'out-there' el...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread
The Sopranos is about the only thing that holds up after The Return, for me. Most other shows feel kind of average and quaint. There's so much to digest and think about.

A 'trilogy' of Mulholland Drive, INLAND EMPIRE, and Antelope Don't Run No More? I wish we could have seen that come to be.

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?
Well, obviously Lynch and Frost had to make do without Ontkean. It would have absolutely been more impactful to have Harry present instead of Frank, without any doubt in my mind. That being said, they could've done a Donna and just blanked him. 'Here's his brother, take him . Where's Harry? Oh, he m...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?
I'll always say that what they did with James in The Return is one it's best through-lines. They wrapped up a really nice reference to the original, ("Just You") while bringing it new context, meaning and weight. That's what sequels should do. From James' awkward teenage song in a love tri...

I love it, and will forever. After distance, and a lot of thought, the show just sings.

Re: New Johnny Jewel album of unused/unreleased TP score
Some of these tracks are great. It does make you wonder how much he knew, or did he title these after he saw the show? Waking Up , Purgatory and to a lesser extent, Tommorow is Yesterday pretty explicitly reference the themes in The Return. Wow, Red Door sounds just like something from S2's Harold p...
