Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Then again, The Walking Dead gets horrible reviews and massive numbers. So maybe I'm full of it. There will always be exceptions to the rule. TWD, like Star Wars, is essentially a cultural phenomenon that has transcended critical acclaim. TWD has gotten such big numbers, they were somehow able to m...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I think you, almost everyone, are really overestimating the power of the critics. Who really watch something based on what a critic liked? Almost no one. I know there's some people, but in this day and age, people are watching things based on what people like and what comes in their way, not based ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

There's just no way that any serious critic can write a review without giving away the kind of info they have been protecting dearly for two years now. And these "embargoes" aren't worth the paper they're not printed on. They're not binding and they really mean nothing. This is not compar...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I know. But having that in their deal affords them the ability to say no to marketing that they feel would spoil mystery or diminish appeal. Absolutely. I do not think screening anything for the press in advance would be in opposition of that though, especially if it is something everyone is excite...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I'd be shocked if they didn't get final approval rights in their deal. Having final approval and utilizing industry norms for marketing aren't mutually exclusive. Like I said earlier, even something as secretive & pearl clutching as Star Wars still had press screenings, when in all honesty, the...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

IIRC Lynch/Frost still have full creative and marketing control, just as they had with the show in the 90s. It is unprecedented and unusual but it's how they ran that ship. What I mean by that, is that Lynch can be far more conventional than people give him credit for, and that can be a good thing.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

There have been a few show that have leaked to the Internet. I think the pilot for Supergirl for one. If I recall The Force Awakens did not allow reviews in advance. That was not a press leak though, it was a production leak. Two entirely different things. Also, Star Wars is an entity onto itself. ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I'm sure Showtime would love to show more. The question is whether or not Lynch will allow it, and he may not. Sure, I do think some people overestimate the amount of power David Lynch has and the manner in which he uses it though. It's entirely in his best interest to not only have this be a succe...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

True but then you risk footage being leaked online. So it's a balancing act between secrecy and advanced buzz. My guess is that there will be no advance screenings for anyone. It's extremely rare for footage screened for press to be leaked. I can't even think of any instance of that happening in th...

Yeah, that won't happen.
It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for Showtime to provide critics with the first 1-3 episodes, this is a fairly common practice. It all depends on how much advance publicity they want.

Not specifically, however the Denver Bob from Wayne Chance's journal certainly raises an eyebrow.

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

Am I the only one that was not expecting any mention of Annie at all? Always seemed to me that anything pertaining to her post-series future will be left for the series.
