Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

They weren't still working on the show after it started airing... Producer Sabrina Sutherland disagrees with you about that. The production office was working down to the wire on all things Blu Ray, DCP's and whatever else was left to do. Sure, but DKL himself said in EW in May that the picture for...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

Watching the show on the Sky streaming platform in the UK, I felt that many of my worst fears about Lynch's digital cinematography were realized. The show looked flat, ugly and bland, and with the exception of the odd stunning sequence - or indeed most of part 8 - I came to accept that the visuals w...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I love the Return, but have found most of the discussion on here quite respectful and well argued. This is with the exception of Gabriel's posts, which have been consistently rude, condescending, and utterly dismissive of any differing opinions. Anyone who liked the show is deemed a liar, a simpleto...

Maybe when Drammatubero clicks it in the menu it'll simply say: not available yet.
I'm watching it, no joke.

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

I've definitely heard that about the latter scene, but from my understanding there are production documents suggesting the Winkie's scene was shot as part of the pilot even though it wasn't in the eventual cut (and may not have been scripted). you got me there! i didint know that... Here's the site...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

I mean just look at this gorgeous trailer, for a film largely shot for TV, no less. I suppose this will be the last we'll see from Lynch working in this wonderful style.

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

I was really hoping that this new season was going to be as beautiful as anything Lynch had brought us in his career. Seems like he's been willing to settle for something "pretty beautiful" over the medium which he still deems unsurpassable, and which has served him so well in the past. Ki...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

It seems like for Lynch the point of film is how beautiful it looks, and the point of digital is how easy it is to use. With that in mind, rather than chose something that balances both maybe he would rather err on one extreme or the other. "“Film is organic, it’s beautiful, no two ways about ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Who knows... My guess is that whatever it is, it's not necessary if that is new footage or anything, but it's highly symbolic nature. Typically Lynch/Peaks to me. A somewhat tattered Laura photo which we already know but maybe not in this context, along with Coop "stepping out of the dark"...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Really? I loved it. Granted, Lynch was being kind of skeezy cause he merely wrote it in as a way to kiss Madchen but Shelly came alive in a really fun and different way in those scenes IMO. Yeah, I know. Most fans consider it "TP getting back on its track". To me TP never looked so silly ...

Re: Showtime Re-broadcast of Original Series

The low visual quality is surprising considering how much better it looks elsewhere on YouTube. Still incredibly exciting though! We're almost here... I've never seen the trailer looking any better than that. Neither have I. My mistake, it was the differing aspect ratio which threw me off. Sorry!
