Re: SPOILERS: Inconsistencies in the Secret History of Twin Peaks
The intention doesn't inherently make it better or worse, but it does help in evaluating the extent to which the author achieved his goals. In any case, the contortions about Norma and Annie are extremely unconvincing, not to mention the other nonsense (Audrey had a hair salon, etc).

Re: Why so little of Grace Zabriskie?
For that type of character, the more you see them, the less mysterious/scary they are. It's like asking why we didn't see Bob more.

Re: Did Fans Not Understand Dougie was a Parody storyline
I'm sure we've all seen Being There and Forrest Gump. I did not need the Lynch version of that story.

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?
Fair point, of course. Since your name and profile comes from Inland Empire, I will say that I think much of latter day Lynch has this same quality - especially that film. Maybe it started with Mullholland Drive (which was only that way by accident, since the pilot was not picked up)? It seems to m...

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?
I don't think the TP stuff makes the season coherent, it's a disjointed mess. If you took it out, you would have at least some coherent parts: Dougie's story, part 8, FBI procedural, etc. That's not exactly what I was implying. I don't think the TP stuff is a major thread, it's just one of many. Th...

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?
Agree with you guys, not to dogpile onto Kilmoore. Quite the contrary to the notion that Lynch slapped TP onto S3, the way I see it is rather that if you went into S3 with some kind of surgical knife, cut out the 'thin threads' to TP and looked over what you had left, it would fall apart completely...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
What I will say (without evidence) is that I think if the TV show didn't exist, no one would care about the books, and the only reason anyone cares about the books is the TV show. Sure, but there's plenty of things I never would have checked out had the TV show not alluded to them, for instance, a ...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
if you're going to say a book written only by one of the co-creators is fan fic you can also say a movie directed and written by only one of the co-creators is fan fic. you can ignore them because you don't like how they fit within your conception of the series or you can not reconcile the differen...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
The show and FWWM create their own continuity errors (such as the many entries Laura wrote after giving the diary to Harold, as I detailed above). And the book was a New York Times best seller. It’s a little dismissive to call it fan fic when Mark gave Jennifer the outline of what story points he n...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew
I think the most interesting "self-conscious" Lynch scene is the "I'm old school" scene with Denise. It really dances around something, but never quite makes a point, and I am really curious what they were thinking with that scene.

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
Sheryl Lee read it and used it to inform her performance, and seeing as she's a major driving force for the movie, for that reason alone I don't think it's entirely right to disregard it. Informing a performance doesn't make it useful for tracking dates for plot continuity. Also, no matter what inf...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
I don't see any point in bothering with the Secret Diary fanfic. Lynch never read it, and he doesn't even care about his own continuity! I would stick to TV + FWWM, to make it a bit less messy. Sheryl Lee read it and used it to inform her performance, and seeing as she's a major driving force for t...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew
I don't want to fall all over myself making excuses for Lynch's behavior as some do, I think what is shown in the BTS is pretty disappointing. At the same time, on the spectrum of "directors behaving badly", it's not really that serious.

Re: LMFAP original season 3 script page!
I think it's a bit bizarre that he is referred to as "Philip Gerard", when that was clearly just a host name (the original series/FWWM are confused about this as well, so I guess it's not a surprise), it would be like calling Bob "Leland Palmer".

Re: What did we know before?
I knew Janey-E's real name maybe a year beforehand. (I stayed silent when a fake name for her began circulating, and I still don't know why that happened unless someone felt like making it up to seem important.) I knew she was played by Naomi Watts, was a love interest for Cooper and had a little b...
