What happened to Donna? (Casting SPOILERS)
Donna Hayward was definitely one of the most important and beloved characters in Twin Peaks. Since Lara Flynn Boyle has reportedly declined to appear in the new season and Moira Kelly is not on the cast list, we don't know if our dear Donna will even be a part of the new season!
Donna's related to several characters we do know will be a part of the new season: Doc & Gersten Hayward, Ben & Jerry & Audrey Horne are all on the cast list. And James Hurley & Mike Nelson will be around too. I think it's safe to assume that we'll hear what's become of Donna either in The Secret History of Twin Peaks, or the new season itself.
Let's place our bets now. This will be fun to look back on in a few months time.

I vote recast, but I don't know who from the 217. I think that was part of their strategy of the cast list release... to overwhelm us with info!

I wish we had one word from Moira Kelly about this! To my knowledge, we haven't heard anything from her at all about the new season of Twin Peaks. Was she asked? Would she even be interested?

I'm going with she left town....

I did too, Annie! But I'll just about lose my mind if either Lara or Moira make a surprise cameo. In my dreams, they both would.Annie wrote:I'm going with she left town....

Lisa Coronado does looks almost exactly like Moira.

Re: What happened to Donna? (Casting Spoilers)
She's a beauty, Jerry! I think she looks a lot like Mary Jo Deschanel, so you might be on to something. I just checked out Lisa's IMDB page and she's got some experience, but nothing major as far as I can tell. It would be so exciting if Lynch/Frost gave such an iconic role to a relatively unknown actress! My only question would be... why not Moira?Jerry Horne wrote:Recast.

Re: What happened to Donna? (Casting Spoilers)
I think if (recast) Donna does appear it will be a very small role.

You're probably right. If that's the case, I'll hope for an additional season and chant "Donna, Madonna, there's always mañana."Ross wrote:I think if (recast) Donna does appear it will be a very small role.

Re: What happened to Donna? (Casting Spoilers)
I can only find pics where Lisa Coronado looks a hell of a lot younger than 42, do I have to poke Google harder or is the actress younger than LFB/Kelly?
Like others, I believe that the bulk of her story and presence was always meant to be in TSHoTP anyway, and that if she is even in the show, she is going to be a cameo or little more than that (though I'd love to see her meet Lee's character, a ghost from her past).
if she was not in the script to begin with, I'm hoping for a simple 'Donna left town'. Much like other absentees such as Graham, I'd strongly prefer if the characters who are not required by the plot were to be kept away from the plot in non-violent ways, keeping the death count low and meaningful.
ditto if she was a cameo they could easily write out. "She's living her life in Seattle", done, bye.
but if her presence was too heavily intertwined with other characters (be it Doc Hayward or even Audrey), I'd rather have a recast than lose those scenes.
I'm also very fond of that fan interpretation of the Kelly recast that states that Laura's death changed her to the point that she /changed/. I know that recasts are entirely accidental and this is 100% fan backsplaining, but it accidentally holds up well for Harry too. We'll see who else among the human cast got that treatment, but should it keep accidentally holding up, I'd like to accept a second recast for Donna under this light... as if, moreso than the other characters, she were in a state of flux, never really finding herself.

Re: What happened to Donna? (Casting Spoilers)
Another recasting wouldn't surprise me at all but for now I'll say left the town.
Re: What happened to Donna? (Casting Spoilers)
The wink-wink kinda response that Coronado gave to a fan in Twitter when se was asked about the possibility of playing Donna was enough for me.
