I definitely agree with the Lynch on Lynch consensus. Wonderful interviews and everything. I bought it back in 2003, and again when the revised edition came out after that, and then my girlfriend went to France in 2007 and saw the Air is on Fire exhibition and got me ANOTHER copy of it in a nice big coffee table edition in FRENCH!
I've read some of Michel Chion's book. It is also very good. And unrelated to Lynch, Chion's Audio-Vision is also a very interesting book, about film, and particularly film sound, in general.

I'm trying to decide on either 'David Lynch: Beautiful Dark' or Chion's 2nd edition 'David Lynch'.
I think I'm leaning toward Beautiful Dark though.

I just bought Lunch on Lynch and am really enjoying that. Came the same day as The Complete Lynch, and Beautiful Dark. Looks like I have a bit o' reading ahead of me. :)

As far as his compilations of art and images, hard to say..... I have The Air is on Fire and think of that as the best so far, but I also have Images and am getting Dark Splendor soon here. :D

Hey Dugpa: maybe you'll create a different section with threads width books about Lynch and his films - one book = one thread.

There are so many books out there, and especially people outside US really don't know what books are worth buying - books are expensive (especially when shipping to other countries), and most of us just can't buy every single book. I'd love to know what books are worth buying, and what's are just trash. I think we'd all be happy to know what forum users think about those books! ;-)

OK still not decided. 'David Lynch: Beautiful Dark' or Chion's 2nd edition 'David Lynch'.
Can anyone give pros and cons as compared to each other?

I'm re-reading 'Lynch On Lynch' again and I am glued to the book.

Has anyone read "Beautiful Dark", a book on David Lynch and his films? I recently have checked it out from my college library and I really like it!

I've heard good things about it and it being the best of the bunch. That will be my next Lynch book to get.
