Re: Last Film You Watched
Last night I watched "The Nightmare Before Christmas" again. Just because it was on and I love everything Tim Burton has done. I had a client that made her own Uggity-Boogity (sp?) doll and used it to deal with her feelings from being sexually abused.

A psychologist in the USA has to have a Ph.D.; I have two Master's degrees.

Re: Last Film You Watched
Not yet, Jerry but it's in my Netflix queue.
Spoilers below for 2nd X-Files movie - sorry, I guess there's no invisi-fonting here.
Well, call me silly if you like. Perhaps the length of time it took me to see it, but I finally watched the 2nd X-Files movie today and wiped off tears seeing Scully and Mulder together again. I don't think there's ever been a more interesting couple on television, who made it despite their extreme differences. I loved how Carter wove a very human and compelling story, again about faith (Scully, ever the faithful Catholic, now fighting her own battle to believe), into a very dark X-Files-type case. Also how you were, at least I was, thrown off the scent that they were still a couple.
And at the point it was revealed, I knew they were going to tell us in so many words what happened to William. But I think I knew already because of the boy in the hospital. Mulder never really gave up looking for his sister, and Scully wants to save every child because of William.
When Skinner made his cameo, I YELPED!!
Glad it wasn't aliens this time. No white-picket ending, but a lot of hope.
PS: The DVD from Netflix had both versions: Theatrical version and extended cut. I watched the extended cut so don't know how much more I saw than theatre audiences.

I really liked King of Kong. I really wanted that guy to beat the record!!
I recently saw Persepolis. It is an animated French film from 2007. It is about the Iranian revolution and the events that follow in the perspective of one person. I liked the film, cool animation, some histroy and it does not have a happy, straight forward ending and I like that.

Re: Last Film You Watched
I saw Multiple Maniacs and the movie was hilarious. I have seen most of John Water's movies. I the best are Multiple Maniacs, A Dirty Shame and Pink Flamingos
Re: Last Film You Watched
Oh, yes!!! For some reason, I just totally forgot about John Waters!!! He's got to be my favorite director next to David (for totally different reasons.)
I've seen all of his movies but A Dirty Shame (since I had expected it to come to my hometown.) I particulary loved Cecil B. Demented, Pecker, and of course, the feel-good musicals, Crybaby and Hairspray.
From the Trash Trilogy, my favorite was Desperate Living.

Re: Last Film You Watched
I'm pretty obsessive about seeing much of everything, but lately with work being insane, I'm all behind...
Having said that, I did take time recently to see Milk, and thought it brilliant. I'm a native San Franciscan and (barely!) remember the era (I was a wee child!) - so among other pleasures, especially since I'm away from home now - it was nice to see my old home town the way I remember it from my youth.
But plus, the movie was great. And it brings up all sorts of bitter and sweet feelings tied to the latest election - (er, and I'll leave it at that, since I'm new to this forum and don't know which way the wind blows politically here! I'm all about keeping the peace!)
But, yes, it was amazing. Best Van Sant film yet, far and away.
(No, he didn't direct Far and Away - har har...)

Yes! I saw it in theaters when it came out and more recently on DVD and I love it. It reminds me of a real-life Christopher Guest film. I hear Hollywood is even making a non-documentary version of it.Jerry Horne wrote:Has anyone else here seen the documentary 'The King of Kong'?
