Blue Velvet 2011 Blu-ray Release with Deleted Scenes

JB: Another question from Twitter was regarding the upcoming, I guess there is a Blu Ray edition of Blue Velvet, and the question was are there any special features or have you done anything different for that edition?
DL: Man oh man. You know, there is a thing called b-negative, or outtakes, or lifts, that don't make it into the film. And in the old days, those things sat around and maybe became dangerously close to being tossed away. Then the internet comes, and people want to see deleted scenes and things like this, so those things become more and more valuable.
So, one day I looked into seeing where the lifts were because some of these scenes on their own would be beautiful to see again. So I find out that Dino, the producer, doesn't know where they are. They've gone. His company went bankrupt, it was taken over by another company, and then it was sold to other companies. No one knew where they were, they were gone. So depressing.
Lately, those have been found. Somewhere up in Seattle. It's incredible. I'm seeing stuff I thought was gone forever. And hopefully some of those scenes (some of them aren't worth putting back together) will end up on the new Blu Ray. We did a 5.1 a while back and it was horrible. And now Dean and I did a new one and it is so thick and beautiful. It's the mix, but it's 5.1 killer beauty.

There's a news item about the release here: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=7143

And one of the commenters lists the extra features as including "over 50 minutes of never-before-seen lost footage" and "a few outtakes" in addition to the Mysteries of Love documentary, etc. :D

Blue Velvet Blu-ray was released in the Netherlands and Belgium last week. Been seeing posts in forums pop up. If you were able to pick up a copy, drop us a line as we'd love an early review. So far, it sounds like the disc has exceeded expectations with full 1080p transfers of the film and the Deleted Scenes as well.

Check out this forum for screeenshots and more details:

Thanks for the link, Dugpa!

I'm really looking forward to this release. I'm getting a BluRay player just for the occasion. :D

So it sounds like the deleted scenes that are missing and NOT on the BluRay are:

Dorothy finding and flushing the "other ear" in her bathroom
Dorothy's argument with the man in the suit inside her apartment
The "epilogue" scene at the police station

Can you think of any others that are not described as being on the release?

I wonder if the footage for these scenes was in very rough shape, or if David had other reasons for not including them.

It would be awesome when the Blu-ray comes out, to see if some fan edits all the footage back into an unofficial extended edition of the film. The script must show when each deleted scene goes, right? If not, you could still make a pretty good guess based on what's happening in the scene, I'm sure.

Who wants to do it? :)

I thought the same when Wild at Heart deleted scenes came out. So far - no fan edits.
