Well, that link was a dead end. Any of the mirror sites i checked were either inoperative or malware pornbot spam inducers.

I realize the relevance and value of torrents...but i just can't get to the data file wanted.

So i must hack on....
(Yes i do need luck.)

I found it though a torrent site - forget which one though. Didn't take long to find, and I let it download overnight (was big - like 5gb or more). IN the end I don't think it was worth the watch, though I understand the curiosity (I was the same haha).

I've watched it and I guess I liked it, but only because I have seen the original episodes MULTIPLE times before.

It cuts away a LOT of stuff that I personally think is important for that familiar Peaks feel. Huge parts of classy Lynch/Frost humor as well as almost all of the "secondary" (I hate that term) storylines aren't shown. It centers pretty much ONLY on the "Who killd Laura" storyline and cuts off right after the BOB reveal in the mid of season 2, just like some countries have shown it on TV back in the day.

Of course it's not what Lynch had in mind, but as soon as you ACCEPT it as a mere FANEDIT, because that's literally what it is, you should be fine.

It's still really well-done, the cuts make sense, the audio editing is also good - and I didn't see any problem at all with the cropping (it's in 16:9 ratio rather than the original 4:3 TV standard back then) either. It works well in *most* scenes I believe.

If you have seen the original series but want to play catchup with a friend who hasn't seen it at ALL (but certainly wants do) and there's way too little time left - do some thinking about whether you can accept its flaws (missing huge parts of subplots and other important details) and if so, I'd go on like follows:

1) watch Northwest Passage fanedit
2) tell them roughly what happens between the end of that and the Lynch-drected S2 finale
3) watch S2 finale
4) watch FWWM (or the fanedit that incorporates the missing pieces)
5) come 5/21 :)

-> That way, you'll have a "rough" overview at the most important stuff in Twin Peaks and will probably be ready *enough* for Season 3 when it airs.
Time: 8 hrs approx.

Can somebody explain the difference between Northwest Passage and Twin Peaks? For example, what is the relevance of the photo of the female (?) at a fairground in the OP? That aint from Twin Peaks.

Just finished watching it. An interesting project, but let's face it: if that had been the Twin Peaks in 1989, we would not be talking about it on this forum today. So much of the spirit of the show depends on the townsfolk. It give credence to the original idea of never revealing the identity of the killer at all.

As for the edit... cutting away the "unneeded" things makes people appear from out of nowhere in certain scenes, weakens Cooper as character since he interacts much less with others and most of all, breaks the timing completely. Towards the end, it seems they didn't want to run it any longer and started shortening scenes, doing damage along the way.

I can't really recommend showing this to anyone to give them the digest version of the show, because this isn't Twin Peaks.

A fan a edit i most certainly would watch, and maybe ill do it myself, is one in wich all the nonsense from late s2 is cutted off,..: james trip to boringland, little nicky... etc.
I most def enjoy those episodes condensed to the main theme of windom earle, owlcave and black lodge.
