Was the TP Visual Soundtrack ever released in DVD format?

Post by xman »

I have a VHS copy of the TP visual soundtrack and wanted to upgrade my copy if possible. I remember the original was released in laserdisc (LD) format in Japan, but did that company ever re-release it later in DVD format?

I wast just curious if laserdisc was the highest quality format created before I start poking around to see what's out there on the open market.

And last, can anyone that has seen the TP Visual Soundtrack on LD comment on the video quality? That is, if the video is comparable to VHS (the video production people shot the original footage onto VHS,) then I'd be wasting my time even thinking about going the route of converting a laserdisc to DVD.

Thanks for the input.

I'm 99% certain that it has never made it to DVD. The quality of the laser is very very good. Very sharp. I just watched it two days ago as a matter of fact. I've never seen the wowow VHS copy so I can't comment on that.

I basically think that my best option at this point is to get a laserdisc player/Visual soundtrack laserdisc and try to convert it to DVD. I don't know if my DVD recorder will handle the laserdisc player as input or if I'll have to put my All In Wonder Video Card to good use, but I think that is just about the only way to upgrade my VHS copy.

I don't know if this is possible, but I might just give it a go. Since I really don't need a laserdisc player for one laserdisc, I'd prefer to get rid of this once I am done. Thanks for the input.

I'd make you a copy but my DVD recorder broke about 4 years ago (Don't buy Phillips people)

I know! Why don't you buy me a dvd recorder and I'll make you a flawless copy of the Visual Soundtrack as well as some TP deleted scenes. Let me know!

People who don't have a fast internet connection will have to download it from a friend or have someone from the board to send it to them for free.

Hopefully someone can burn one for me and PM me to get my address. I can cover shipping via money order if necessary!
