I think The Archivist will turn out to be Major Briggs.

In the suppressed history of america: murder of meriwether lewis self-pr'ed alternative history researchers haze and schrag, apart from presenting pro-murder arguments, also detail memoirs by a certain spanish traveller of the same time (pineda, it seems) of the whole settlements of giants in native lands of that time ...

Is that a mistake on page 24? The last word of line four is 'and' and the first word of line five is 'and'.

The handwriting is difficult to read...

Wondering if there is a scene in the book where Ben Horne's grandfather has a mental breakdown and imagines himself to be Meriwether Lewis. :D

How come? to my eyes it seems that everything there is being contradicted. Let's not forget that there was a wealth of rumours about a Twin Peaks continuation going around in those days. This was just someone reacting to them.

Or perhaps both Annie and Major Briggs are killed in 1991... Would make sense being too close to the fire and all...

Maybe Annie and the blonde nurse. She was the last one to wear the ring.

Dunno, Mark Frost is pretty adamant that the book doesn't spoil anything for the show, so the archivist and Agent TP maybe are just part of the book. But then again, Knepper and Shiels appear in both. :?
This is - excuse me - a damn fine cup of coffee.

I have a feeling Shiels is our female reporter "TP" that is making her notes. After all, she is on my "infamous" list of bolded names ;) Haha. But honestly, I believe every word of that rumor from a few years ago. Shiels is young, attractive and blonde and fits the role of a young FBI agent doing some investigating IMO. How cool would it be if she was born the exact day Laura Palmer was killed? She certainly looks to be about 25 years old.

Side note: LOVE that the initials of the FBI agent are "TP." Cute touch.

I would not be shocked if James Morrison is the Archivist. He has a fantastic voice. Obviously the Archivist is heard (presumably) in his letter but perhaps there is another point at which we hear him later in the book we don't know of yet.

Sigh...

I fear you might be right. That will be pretty devastating for me if true. Such a cruel fate for the nicest character in TP.

I've always thought that the Cooper situation would be a tough one. Seeing (or at least knowing) our beloved Coop committing crimes such as murder will be rough. I guess that's why Lynch introduced the concept of the split.

I always thought that Annie wouldn't return in the show because she had failed to recover from when we last saw her. Having her survive only to be killed two years later (at the hands of BOB-possessed Coop?) seems especially cruel, but not terribly unlikely. I highly doubt that it's Donna. Maybe the victim was a new character whose death was never solved whom we'll see in season 3?

Maybe I read the opening pages wrong, but does it sound like the murder took place in another town?

Loved The preview! Felt like a little kid while reading I am gonna be a wreck when it finally airs lol. The Lewis stuff really had me intrigued and love how Mark is interweaving actual historical events into it. I felt like I was actually reading a historical document and had to stop and remind myself every so often this isn't real its twin peaks...then got even more excited!
