Rancho Rosa definitely feels like The Truman Show. Everything about it feels fabricated.
This is - excuse me - a damn fine cup of coffee.

Dougie's son doing the thumbs up sign in the same fashion as the waiter

Interesting theory posited on this blog:

THE ACE OF SPADES:
Could Motorhead's 'The Ace of Spades' be relevant to the card that Mr C shows to Darya?
"If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man, You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me, The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say, I don't share your greed, the only card I need is The Ace Of Spades Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil, Going with the flow, it's all a game to me, Seven or Eleven, snake eyes watching you, Double up or quit, double stake or split, The Ace Of Spades
You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools, But that's the way I like it baby, I don't wanna live forever, And don't forget the joker! Pushing up the ante, I know you got to see me, Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again, I see it in your eyes, take one look and die, The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be, The Ace Of Spades"

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
This is interesting, many references so far to Jade. But I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere (apologies if it has). It is also used in Native American Jewelry...
Healing Properties of Stones Used in Native American Jewelry - Jade facilitates peace within the physical, emotional, and intellectual structures, as well as within the materialistic world. It was said to bring accord the environment, to transmute negativity and to instill resourcefulness. "Very Lucky Stone".
Makes me wonder if it is all about the ring...

Like 15 being 1500hrs - 3pm and 3 being 0300hrs?Sergey wrote:Perhaps the numbers 15 and 3 are intertwined, like day and night. The blind woman flips the switch and day turns to night, in other words, 15 changes to 3. The blind woman turns into a seeing one. Everything ends up mirrored and we enter the "Blue Rose". Something like this..

Nevada Test Site- Explosion pic in Gordon's office /Howard Hughes pic in casino office. Jack Parsons worked for Hughes. The bomb test is important to the story. The two gents from Otis' place, fallout effects are visible. And that floor in the first scene with Coop is the BnW hand drawn map of Twin Peaks
Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
Just watched Part 3 & Part 4. I managed to wait one week before seeing them, so I'll do the same for Part 5 since it has leaked... Just sad that all the viewers can't be synced !
Anyway, I loved Parts 3 & 4. Quickly :
- I was a bit disappointed by the pace, because it felt a bit like a normal TV show compared to Parts 1 & 2 ! Not that it's a bad thing per se, but I was less mesmerized by the all thing.
- Part 3's intro is incredible. It reminded me of Major Brigg's dream with Bobby. I watch season 3 with a projector and it looked beautiful. Best scene of the first four parts IMO.
- The Dougie Jone storyline feels really LH/IE. Especially with the Dave Brubeck song ! I was also surprized to see Watts in this kind of role. She doesn't really fit with MacLachan, I don't know exactly why, but in a way it's serving the story...
- I also agree like a lot of you Rancho Rosa seems fake. But if Bob is capable of creating another doppelgagner, what are his limits ?
Plus, all the Las Vegas/casino stuff has a strong "Lotus-Eater Machine" vibe to it. Since Coop is able to see the Black Lodge at the same time he's seeing Dougie's room, maybe Rancho Rosa is just a projection by the Black Lodge. And he's still trapped in it, believing he's in the outside world ? More like "Inception" let's say than "The Truman Show"...
- The "HELLO" sequence made me think of Lynch story in QUINOA. All the little coins !!! Where is the Coca-Cola ???
- The Kafka portrait inside Gordon's desk is a brilliant idea. Not only because it's a reference to Lynch admiration for Kafka and The Metamorphosis, but because it shows how it's absurd and funny that a guy like Gordon (i.e. Lynch) is working for the FBI. Kafka has written mostly about administration as a living hell, so that a FBI Agent could have a portrait of him in his desk is just very ironic and clever.
- Can't stand Chrysta Bell. I don't know if it's because she can't act or if it's on purpose, but either way, her character is very annoying. The way she talks, the ways she walks... I don't understand what Lynch is seeing in her. And I wasn't on the side of the people who thought NY storyline in Part 1 was badly played. I loved Ben Rosenfield and Madeline Zima and thought all of it was very Lynchian. But Chrysta Bell doesn't seems like a great actress. Hope I'm wrong...
That's it. So far it's brilliant. Loved especially Part 1 & 3.

I hoped it was Judy, in control of electricity in a room somehow connected to the lodges where everything is 'regulated'. Or something like that... Maybe Judy is the mother.N. Needleman wrote:She's not credited as Ronette, but I am still gagging over it and assume it could well be her. I don't expect to see her again but I still want answers!
And I wish Nae Yuuki's character ("Naido") had been Josie, but yes that sequence was amazing.
