It's a pattern I can get used to as many episodes are unlikely to have traditional cliffhangers/tension. (Of course 4 sets up 5 rather nicely I think)
I've grown to love this. I wouldn't be surprised to see this copied elsewhere.

I find it hilarious and amusing that people are so mad about Cera. I found it to be hilarious and immediately got what he was doing. I will say this - to play devils advocate that it would've been greatly benefited with some of that quintessential Twin Peaks jazz music that accompanied so many great comedic moments in the original but it seems like for some reason or another Lynch is intent on using very minimal music this time around. Especially in comedic moments.
- I think it's obvious that Andy and Lucy raised Wally to worship Brando. Why they did this is anyone's guess but if that's how you were raised then it's pretty clear to see why he was acting that way. Also I feel like if I were a betting man.. Wally is Dicks kid.

Count me in the Chrysta Bell wooden acting camp. I get the character is suppose to be very stern and professional but thus far as an actor myself her acting leaves much to be desired and not in the purposely bad acting way that Lynch often uses. We'll see if she improves as she inevitably gets more scenes. She'd greatly benefit from sharing time with Dern who is likely Diane.

So far, while Kyle McClachlan has been great, I feel no connection to Cooper, DoppleCoop, or Dougie. It's been nice seeing Lucy & Andy but they feel less fun and way more awkward now (a result of the lack of music and clunky editing perhaps?). It was nice to see Denise but that whole scene was odd. Specifically the way Cole seemingly talked down to his superior. Something about that line “There's room in this Federal Bureau of Investigation for more than one beautiful woman.” rubbed me the wrong way. Ben and Jerry Horned was fun but seemed pointless (unless of course we get back to them in future episodes). I liked all those strange, odd, and creepy characters in the shack where we are first introduced to DoppleCoop.

What'd y'all think of the characters (so far)?
I'm totally with you on Lillard, Adams, Ashbrook and Forester. All tremendous and standout. Lillard in the interrogation room to me was one of the best scenes in the entirety of the series. The acting was off the charts good. I'm really impressed and I'm hoping it lands this dude some seriously good roles, because after this, he deserves it.

I actually love everything about the DougieCoop character. It's too funny to me. As I was watching it at first, during the car ride with Jade and in the first few moments in the casino I was like "uh oh, this isn't looking good at all" Then the jackpot bit started happening and it all clicked. Everything after that had me glued to the screen.

I'm pretty neutral on DoppleCoop so far, but I like it... I just feel like there is so much more to come, that judgment is hard... the prison scene was tremendous though.

Wally is hilariously awkward. Andy and Lucy... feel the same as I did in the original run, same with Hawk and Margaret.

Darya was a cool character that I really think goes under appreciated.. the hotel scene was very stand out... in a stretch that was rather wooden, her performance really stood out with genuine emotion and intent. Between her and Lillard's character Hastings, I really got the sense that the wooden acting otherwise is very much serving a specific purpose, and upon 2 viewings really hits home.

Not a reply to the quoted post, but many that came before it. I'm actually in a completely different boat from most on my opinion of Tamara Preston. I think she is great. I think we have to keep an open mind. 1. She's young. 2. She's attractive. 3. She's in a very prominent position in the government considering 1 and 2. 4. She's objectified by her superiors (and likely peers). If you're her and trying to be taken seriously, how would your behavior be? I'd imaging a wooden serious professional demeanor with some of those naive aspects that age presents coming through in subtle ways (like her reaction to being told to leave, and the way she walks.) I've mentioned the hand gesture in the car in past posts as being a character moment for her that I LOVED. Also... the way she moved.. COME ON PEOPLE.. it's not as if the original run of this show didn't do different versions of this exact idea. Audrey Horne for example. Moved very deliberately pretty much the entire time and it was clearly a point of direction.

100% Team Tamara (and to be clear, I'm not a Chrysta Bell fan, this is my first exposure to her).

I am fine with all of them so far. I am still undecided about Bell, but overall that's what I would expect from Lynch's work.
Lillard is amazing, and Maclaclan is impressive.
As for the disconnect with the characters I thing that it is intentional. Cooper is non existent at this moment. Bad Coop is just bad, and droolingCoop can't be really a character you connect with. You might like him, but you can't really connect to him. I bet that you felt connected a bit, maybe for a second, when he saw coffee for the first time, and he smiled. Coop ain't back yet, but he's there and we're ready to reconnect with him.

When I saw Wally for the first time I was amused but I was like WTF the whole time.
Then yesterday I was driving alone, and the scene popped up in my mind. I thought about the shadow sometimes in front, back, left, right except when it's cloudy or at night... and I started laughing out loud hysterically. Someone outside probably thought I was some sort of deranged person.
That scene is pure genius.

I am wondering if Jane Adams (Constance) and Briscoe(?) (Mackley) will keep having substantial roles. I don't expect it but I always love Jane Adams.

I would kill for at least one more scene each with Denise and Wally, but I am not expecting it. It is still jarring to see Richard Chamberlain and Meg Foster in tiny bit parts. I'm used to it in Lynch's work and was half-expecting it, but I'd also really have loved for them to have more.

I really don't understand the Tamara hate. She's fine in the role. It's not like she was a superior being in the book, basically the only thing she did was confirm statements, even the identity of the archivist was blatantly revealed at the end without her doing anything to uncover it.
Her acting is good enough, and I'm sure she'll take on a prominent role as we move forward, probably as a response to being judged on her (incredible) appearance.
Also not a fan of her from before, never heard of her in fact.

Interesting, I hadn't noticed that. But in the immediate next scene, Ben Horne mentions a very rich New York female staying at the Great Northern--- Mrs. Hausmann. I had wondered about that seemingly pointless and out of place Ben and Jerry scene, but was it possibly subterfuge to introduce the name Hausmann (tied to the giant's "in our house"?) as well as to establish bread crumbs tying the box to Twin Peaks? Perhaps the prior Jacoby scene involving shovels, later to be painted gold turning them into a Masonic symbol, is similarly to establish a Masonic connection to whoever is monitoring the box. The second time we see the New York building, it does give off kinda a Masonic Lodge "vibe."

The New York/Twin Peaks connection could very well be this. Don't forget that Ben says the "She and her New York friends keep our spa running", which could mean they've been there a while/will be there a while? Connection to the listening station? Although he did specify that they will refund two night "but not the whole week".
I seriously doubt that scene was as pointless as many people say. We're introduced to VERY few old times in the first episode, so the ones we do se must be significant. 99% of other show runners out there would have thrown in quite a few scenes with familiar faces "just cause". That's one thing I love about this season so far. Nobody is thrown in there because "we need something for X to do this season", or season 2 syndrome.
