I don't think Sheryl is being credited for the opening title sequence, I think her credit is for the photos of Laura wrapped in plastic and her homecoming queen photo, both of which you can briefly see on Hawk and Andy's police station table. I could be wrong on that being the reason for Sheryl being credited but her photos were definitely visible, albeit barely.crash_and_burn wrote:Because her likeness is the first thing you see in the opening of the show.Jonah wrote:Why is Sheryl Lee credited for this episode?

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
I loved this episode! It is my second-favorite so far, after part 4.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I adore the DroolCoop story. It's my favorite bit, because I love a good fish-out-of-water tale. I've replayed those scenes (on my DVR) over and over. I found it touching when Coop cried at the sight of the boy: maybe he perceives that the kid has not gotten the love he deserves. I replayed the insurance-company scenes several times. I loved when Coop said "he's lying." And I thought the guy who played the fraudulent insurance adjuster ("Tony") was wonderfully menacing. I also wanted to make sure I knew the name of the boss (Bushnell) -- who, as others may have already noted (I haven't read all 14 pages of this thread), is the boxer in the poster behind his desk. I thought it was cute that Elena Satie wanted him to kiss her. Coop has a Chauncey Gardener ("Being There") vibe going on. (The only DroolCoop scene I didn't love was the casino scene last week, which I thought went on a bit too long. But that pancake scene with "Take Five" was, for me, a classic. Even the choice of music was appropriate: one of the relatively few pop tunes ever recorded in 5/4 time, an unstable meter to suit an unstable pancake-eater.)
In fact, I seem to have the opposite reaction of many people to things. I loved the "headline" gags. I was riveted to the TV from the first scene on. On the other hand, I didn't love the Jacoby scene.
I rewatched the morph of BOB's face several times; I thought that was really well done. Bob had a long laugh line, didn't he.
So, did Warden Murphy kill a Mr Strawberry? It would seem so. He's no longer answering calls, EvilCoop tells us.
I didn't love everything about this episode. I can't bring myself to re-watch the unpleasant business with young Horne; do we really need more sexual violence in this series? Nonetheless, that still photograph of his tentacle-like hand certainly is creepy. Why don't people in movies ever call the cops when things like that happen? Or take an iPhone video?
I didn't love Truman's wife, either. I liked the Andy/Hawk scene more than the tedious Andy/Lucy scenes last week.
Still and all, I loved this episode. It ended too soon.

Woman with the blackberry at the beginning of the episode: new candidate for "tell her she has the job"?

It's the titles. Hope we do see more of her though, she was great in the lodge.
Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Yeah. I'm a post producer and there are two very common things editors are doing during creative editorial. One is to do a split screen to mash two different takes together - this is widely used and happens on everything. When you can't get a clean split the next thing is to do a face replacement and grab a face from one take and paste it into the body from another. You can then use a fluid morph to seamlessly blend between the two takes. This is more expensive and it looks like they did the fluid morph but didn't roto Horne's hands fully. It's a complex shot and would cost some money eyes to do. It looks like it got 80% done and they called it a day.Mairzy wrote:Face replacement?cooper075 wrote:This is just a crappy face replacement on the girl. It would explain why he's in the Canadian drug trade and maybe his evil demeanor not having a father to grow up to and his mother likely being a prostitute from One Eyed Jacks.

Huh? The cast list (Kyle aside) is in alphabetical order by actor name, and clearly says "In Alphabetical Order" at the start of the list.cy cy wrote:It's the titles. She's credited in every episode and it's in order of apperance.

I liked when I saw the North Bend theater and City of Snoqualmie ambulance through the window of the RR in Twin Peaks.

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
My OTHER cultural love is professional wrestling. In wrestling circles, what we're seeing with Dougie is called selling.
He's been trapped in an expansive, cryptic and terrifying netherworld for 25 years. His mind is utterly scrambled. He can't just return to his old self after a token two part arc. He is profoundly broken. Besides which, it would be immensely unsatisfying on a dramatic level. Some folk are complaining that the reaction from his colleagues and family is unrealistic (which I understand, though personally I think the character was been defined just well enough to warrant it).
It would be far more egregious if he simply entered back into the real world having suffered no genuine effects. Think of the ripple effect. If the Lodge was so easy to recover from, why would we then find it terrifying? And, by extension, its denizens?

Sheryl has appeared in every episode in either flashback (parts one and three), new footage (part two), or photo (parts four and five). We'll have to see if she is credited in an episode where her likeness doesn't appear in the episode proper to know if she's being credited for the title sequence.

I guess I'm one of the few who loved the scene with Mrs. Truman. But I have a soft spot for the actress, Candy Clark. She co-starred with David Bowie in "The Man Who Fell To Earth" and was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in "American Graffiti." So she's definitely not a bad actress! I thought she was purposely over the top because it underscored how opposite she is of her husband. He could not be more laid-back, and she couldn't be more high-strung. I laughed through the whole scene but particularly at the end when she said, "You're impossible!" -- she was completely unaware that she was actually describing herself.

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Isn't it also possible that if he is actually Audrey's son (which i'm crossing my fingers he isn't) the father could be Doppelcooper? Because, idk about JJW, but I don't think Lynch and Frost are going to ignore Annie and I honestly wouldn't put it past Doppelcoop to pull some shit like sleeping with Audrey before hightailing it out of Twin Peaks.Cappy wrote:Richard Horne is either the offspring of Jerry Horne and Heba from the Iceland delegation in Season 1, or RIchard Horne is the offspring of Audrey Horne and Dale Cooper. I think if Lynch/Forst are willing to ignore Annie's existence, then they are equally willing to ignore John Justice Wheeler and his Where's Waldo sweater as well.

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
The first name is an obvious reference to Bushnell Keeler, a painter and early mentor of DKL. DKL has credited Keeler with encouraging/tricking him into going to art school (as well as inspiring the "fish in the percolator" scene, something which others -- including Duwayne Dunham -- have also claimed credit for).Harry S Truman wrote:I also wanted to make sure I knew the name of the boss (Bushnell) -- who, as others may have already noted (I haven't read all 14 pages of this thread), is the boxer in the poster behind his desk.
Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Just a heads up, a new rolling poll for the first half (pts 1-9) of the Return is stuck in the non-spoiler section and it can't get out:

Please don't make any spoiler-ish posts in that thread until it's no longer in the no-spoilers section.
It's not yet in the season 3 section due to a technical issue which maybe sort of could be resolved possibly kind of soon-ish.
