Those are awesome, brilliant news! Now, does anyone know what is the region situation with Blu Rays? Is it same like with DVDs?

It's slightly different. Releases are region-coded into A, B or C. However, the percentage of region-free releases is much higher than with regular DVDs, which is good.

This is great news. I recently got myself a HD TV, so all I need is a player (I'm considering a Playstation 3 some time). Although, if this release adds nothing new in terms of bonus material (chances are, it won't), I might give it a miss, or buy it later on. I know it should be better picture wise, but I find that the DVD already looks beautiful in progressive scan. I'll see what happens.

Chances are the release has been delayed for some reason, and rather than pull the listing Amazon's attibuted it a date waaaaay in the future. I've seen that happen on other releases.

Dang... I was pretty sure I'd last some time without going the Blu-Ray road, because I am not that interested in the current catalogue, as compaired to the regular DVD one. It seemed wrong to me to have films that I just think are "OK" in the highest possible definition, while the films that I really love and consider masterpieces might remain for some time only available at a lower quality.

Still, there's a handful of films that are so dear to me that the release of even just one of those in this format might make consider change the whole equipement right away... Fire Walk With Me was one of them; I really didn't expect it would be one of the first Lynch ones to pop up...

This makes me more than slightly concerned about the "deleted scenes" issue... have they fallen back into limbo? I find it unlikely -or at least a bit incoherent- that a Blu-Ray would be released without them, only to see a regular DVD with better content being released a few months later, but I guess if the Blu-Ray did include the 1 extra hour it would be advertised with a much bigger bang. Does that mean the special edition DVD has reverted to its "might happen one day" status? Bummer.

This title has now been removed from the main DVD sites (play.com, sendit etc.)

Sorry to bear bad news.

I am in the UK... Does anyone know if FWWM will also have a re-release on DVD at the same time as the Blu-ray release?
The next time you see me it won't be me...

Are there any news about this or the US Blu Ray release of FWWM? A few sources online claim that the movie is slated for a 2009 release (including on its Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_Walk_With_Me#DVD) but I haven't heard anything official. I know it's probably bull, but you can't blame the guy for wishful thinking. Does anyone out there have any concrete info by any chance?
