I haven't talked about this? I guess I'm saving it all for my Audrey thread when I get there.

Especially on the enhanced dvd.

Can we talk about the fact that Audrey is swept off her feet by a guy who tucks in his sweater? If you listen carefully during the picnic scene, you can hear Fenn say, "Please kill me now."

I like Billy Zane- and thought he was great in Dead Calm. But in 1991, I was practically making voodoo dolls of him and poor Heather Grahm.

because we've never really come to terms with it and we're still blocking it out... and it hurts.

come to think of it, why hasn't there been a discussion about that sweater?

Rumor has it he stole it from the set of Cosby.

they didn't steal it! Bill Cobsy said he felt the sweater was "too loud," and "not subtle" enough for his tastes.

Can we talk about the glasses too?

The wig wasn't just a TP thing though. Didn't Zane always wear a hairpiece at the time?

Not QUITE as bad as Maddy's ridiculously huge glasses. I guess giant glasses were in style then. Now its just huge sunglasses.

The sweaters and the glasses are the only monstrous things to TP's wonderful aesthetic.

Yeah, its pretty amazing that TP still manages to look so timeless.

Billy Zane's character always felt like an afterthought to me. Since Audrey couldn't have Cooper, there had to be ... somebody. And he was actually relatively normal compared to everyone else and everything else going on, so I can understand why Audrey liked him. But it totally contradicts her character, who goes after what she wants. And she wanted Cooper.

After Dead Calm it was hard to see Zane in another role - much later on down the road he had a guest role on Charmed before it totally jumped the shark and I liked him a lot in that.

On the other hand, I think she had enough respect for Cooper to not pursue something that he was against. In fact, I think that situation caused her to grow up a bit.

I don't know. It seems to me that he was just too good to be true. Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties in the middle of all that mystery and darkness. It's like Hamlet's line, "The time is out of joint." I mean even his name, John Justice Wheeler. I felt like every time John smiled, all he needed was one of his teeth to have a special-effect glint to complete the picture I was seeing. I think Zane did the best he could with it though.
