I need help for the meaning of this

I need help for the meaning of this

Hello!

I speak just a little english and sorry for my bad english, I need to know what "I have this thing for knives" means in english, someone told me that this means like "I love knives" but I think for this meaning would be "I have a thing for knives", can anybody help me? what it means exactly "I have this thing for knives"?

I love knives isnt a wrong answer, though it isnt quite right, if you "have a thing" for something its more like a bit of a fetish or obsession. I hope that helps!

I think mark is on target, but I have a more specific comment to add...

It seems to me that the phrase is most commonly used when people talk about features that they find really attractive. For example, a guy might say, "I have a thing for red-heads." Or a girl might say, "I have a thing for guys in uniform."

Thanks D0ppelgangerDale too, I had understood another meaning, something like Bob used Leland as knives, I was wrong.
