Re: Twin Peaks Props
Never heard about them finding the ring. Does not not make too much sense as the symbol is seen earlier in the series.

Re: Twin Peaks Props
Jerry, you are an angel! I have downloaded the photo, and I am going to make some plan-view and side-view drawings from it to take to my jeweler-friend.
I also note in the photo, that the center diamond-shape on the ring is not a perfect diamond like the petroglyph in Owl Cave. On the ring, one can see that one of the lines that makes up the center diamond is elongated past the diamond and forms a kind of little tail. I will probably stick with the petroglyph design as shown in Owl Cave, however...
Again, thanks so much!

Re: Twin Peaks Props
I have such ring! I got it as a New Year present some years ago. And one of my friends got blue rose But I don't wear ir because it is too big for me. If I find it, I'll take photo.Owl Lady wrote:The one prop I would dearly love to have (and wear!) is the Owl Glyph Ring!
I love it so much, I am considering contacting a jeweler-friend of mine who works in sterling silver to ask her if she could make me a similar piece. I think we could manage to get a green stone properly engraved with the glyph, and the setting looks to be very simple. (Personally, I'd also actually prefer the ring to be sterling silver, even though that would not be strictly canon...)
Re: Twin Peaks Props
I definitely will keep you posted on my progress. I have been enamored of that ring for the longest time, I am a complete jewelry fanatic who already wears four Flying-Owl-shaped rings (on the thumbs and ring-fingers of both hands), and my favorite color is green, too...
Looking at the additional pix you've provided, my friend should be able to manage a similar setting, no problem. However, I may have to talk to some of the old rock-hounds at the local Gem and Mineral Society to find out what they would recommend insofar as doing the intaglio of the glyph-- what stone they'd choose to use with an eye to it being hard enough, etc. I actually have a nice, large-ish piece of partially tumbled jade that would be darned near the right color, so if they think that jade would work well, I'm in business, as I already have enough scrap silver collected for the project.

That would be great, areeng! I'd like to see what your ring looks like and what size it is. I'm collecting as many photos as I can so that I can show them to my friend, and to the guys at the Gem and Mineral Society. I'm sure that somebody somewhere is going to be able to help me come up with a good facsimile.areeng wrote:I have such ring! I got it as a New Year present some years ago. Re: Twin Peaks Props
An attendee at the Twin Peaks festival a few years back had a ring that he had made. His username is Nefud on the Twin Peaks Gazette board. I think there was even a discussion on that site at one point about how much it cost him and what he chose for the green gem/stone and why.

Funny and wicked at the same time!
It seems to be more thin than the syringe in the picture.
Anyway I'd like to take the full tray!
