No music thread? Let's kick one off then.

Today's listenings:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 2009 - It's Blitz (nu-disco? Dunno... it's great though.)
Toecutter - 2004 - Real Sexual People (ADHD-core. Ultra-fast breaks, noise and stolen beats.)
Amon Tobin - 2000 - Supermodified (breaks and funk stuff.)
DJ Scotch Egg - 2006 - Scotch Hausen (orchestral compositions performed on a Nintendo Gameboy.)

DJ Rainbow Ejaculation - 2009 - Untitled (the gayest rave you will ever hear, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Not sure he does though... definetely NSFW link here: www.667u.com)
Various - 2007 - Now We Are Ten (Trunk Records' bargain sampler of their old and forgotten soundtrack releases, including bits from The Tomorrow People, Kes and The Clangers.)
Machine Rock - 2009 - Machine Rock (my mate's electro project; not as good as his electronic heavy metal band Fast Lady, but still funky stuff: http://bubblegunner.blogspot.com/)
Various - 1991 - The Ghosts Of Oxford Street (soundtrack to Malcolm McLaren's Christmas musical-documentary about Oxford Street, featuring the Happy Mondays as a London gang on their way to the gallows, with Shaun Ryder playing Jack Shepard, singing the Bee Gee's 'Stayin' Alive', Tom Jomes as John Selfridge singing 'Money', and Sinead O'Connor as an angel singing 'Silent Night'. Oh, and a Pete Waterman-produced remix of Beethoven's 7th symphony featuring Alison Limerick, and non-sequitur interlude from Rebel MC. Bizarre.)
Monopolka - 2006 - Noise Wendy (an 8-minute album of chopped-pop and piercing noise that makes Eraserhead sound like Eno.)

*ahem*

EUROVISION! NOW!!!

(This is probably lost on Americans, so for them, basically it's a song contest for countries laughably considered part of Europe, where each country writes a song, performs it, and then all the Eastern Bloc countries vote for each other and one of them inevitably wins. This year the UK's song is written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, after he got annoyed with the UK constantly (and correctly) taking the piss out of the event by entering talent show rejects and novelty turns, so obviously I'm hoping it does incredibly badly, just to wipe that... whatever it is off his face.)

Listening to:

Danger Man (5-disc television soundtrack on the Network label)

http://www.networkdvd.net/product_info. ... cts_id=749

So, here we have a nearly 50 year-old series that gets a deluxe soundtrack release (nearly 400 tracks on 5 discs) YET, no complete soundtrack to Twin Peaks?

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH...

Last night I saw Yusef, aka Cat Stevens on Jimmy Fallon. He was just as wonderful as I remember him soooooooooo many years ago. He played "Father and Son" and something from his newest album. And while he's not as good-looking as he used to be, his voice is great! I'm trying to decide what CDs to buy now. My old vinyl collection was lost somewhere along the way......

Solar Fields - Mirror's Edge Original Videogame Score (music from the excellent if short free-running videogame, in the vein of Global Communication style ambient techno)
Anything and everything by Jandek, an outsider folk music enigma with 60 albums to his name over the past 30 years.
Rice Corpse - Mrs. Rice (free-jazz noise music from my favourite label in the world, Australia's dualpLOVER)
Wisbey - Dirty Fan Male (another Trunk Records one, this time opera singer (so I'm told) Wisbey reads out genuine letters to porn stars in a variety of comedy voices)

Last night for my 22nd birthday I put a gig on in my home town that featured the following six brilliant acts:

Pindown - two middle-aged men refusing to compromise to anyone or anything whilst making hideous A/V noise: one man behind two iBooks (one pumping out distorted metal and industrial samples, the other controlling epilepsy-inducing visuals), the other preaching the gospel on the stupidity of life and the music business. My new favourite band, naturally.
The Fez! - a local teenage heartthrob making warp-speed breaks and beats against noisy ambient melodies. Sadly he didn't play his remix of 'Boom! Shake The Room' by Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince.
The Abominable Mr Tinkler - an excellent local sound engineer who spends his spare time turning pop and thrash metal songs into glitched-up, wonky technopop.
Cats Against The Bomb - an old friend who's living the Steve Albini dream - making ear-splittingly loud electro-rock via over 10 guitar pedals and cut-up breakbeats and 909 hits while spending the rest of his life in a job he hates. Song subjects include The Evil Dead 2 and 3, Lethal Weapon 2, Ant and Dec, Nerys Hughes... and a cover of Haddaway's 'What Is Love'. Watch out, he had a John Peel session in 2000...
John Callaghan - a bald man with two tufts of hair - one coloured green, the other pink - who used to be on Warp Records (the people who release Aphex Twin and Squarepusher's stuff) in the late-90s, singing beautifully written songs about heartbreak, pain and death... whilst breakdancing and wearing a selection of increasingly hilarious costumes. And when you consider that his first costume was a half-suit - literally a suit that's been cut in half down the middle - and how incredible that is in itself, and the fact it gets even better after that, you can imagine how amazing he is live. Easily up there in my top-5 sets (which puts him up there with Pixies), and I suspect of all these acts he'd be the one most likely to appeal to Lynch fans. Also, HimTube.
Kunt And The Gang - a man with the most ridiculous hair you've ever seen (abnormally large greyish-white dreads) singing about masturbation, perverts, masturbation, paedophiles, masturbation, masturbation, and the love of his life, former Countdown host Carol Vorderman, set to the most infectiously catchy General MIDI melodies you've never heard. His fans include the NME, Charlie Brooker, Channel 4 and musical svengali/convicted underage buggerer Jonathon King. Hits include 'Use My Arsehole As A c***', 'Fucksticks', 'Have A Wank', 'Men With Beards (What Are They Hiding?)' and my personal favourite, 'The Queen's c***'.

I swear, I've not made any of this up.

WARNING: The preceeding post contains strong language.

PFFR - 2003 - United We Doth (when they're not making the funniest television programmes of the decade (Wonder Showzen and Xavier: Renegade Angel) they make bizarre electro-rock in the vein of Boredoms and Lightning Bolt. Both noisy and fun(ny).)
Hypnotique - 2004 - The Hanging Garden (mysterious electronic/vaudeville music from one of the world's leading theremin players - as seen on The Paul O' Grady Show!)
Boards Of Canada - 2002 - Geogaddi (trippy ambient stuff from Warp Records.)
Reverend Billy & The StopShopping Gospel Choir & The NotBuying It Band - 2009 - The Shopocalypse (hilarious anti-consumerism gospel music - you'll never want to shop at K-Mart again.)
Pindown - 2004 - Democracy In Action

Cooooooooooooome on... there must be more listeners out there. Share your musical wealth!
