Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Needleman's post sums up a lot of my feelings. Audrey starts off as one of the best characters on the show, but writing put her in a spot where she's one of the most inconsequential characters by the end. By the end of the run, Donna's arc (dealing with Ben Horne as her father) was more compelling t...

Re: Does Anyone Dislike Episode 29?

I imagine for some people the shock of the cliffhanger overwhelms their opinion of the episode. Having said that, I don't know why someone would hate it now, especially that we're getting more and the cliffhanger won't be unresolved anymore. I watched 29 six or seven years ago, so, before the new se...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

I'd just say to ignore Fenn. She clearly has some sort of personal issues going on. Lynch seems to run into this issue a fair bit with actors (MJA, for instance), and I imagine it's in no small part due to surrounding himself with eccentrics. The cast list is, by Hollywood standards, very flush with...

Longtime lurker popping up. I love the discussion here and really appreciate how civil folks are here compared to other forums I've frequented. That's a way of living I thought had vanished. I thought any Toronto area people might like to know about TYPE books upcoming event: A Fan Night for the Se...

Not too crazy about that print they're selling. Feels a little bit too low-key/simple.

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Eh, reboot has always had ambiguity to it anyway. Star Trek was rebooted (but the old canon still exists in the world of story) Knight Rider was rebooted (and David Hasselhoff's character returned for a cameo). Ghostbusters was rebooted (and wiped the slated clean) Batman Begins was rebooted (and wi...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

I would hope that Showtime will start selling some of this Twin Peaks swag through more easily accessible channels (their website) for people who can't get out to these very special events? Maybe? Hopefully?

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

I'd personally rather the show wraps up than risk a cliffhanger that might never get resolved. Who knows what can happen, a lot of the cast is old, Lynch is no spring chicken, hell, maybe the ratings won't be what Showtime expects. I just look at what the X-Files pulled with their revival (mind you,...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

What are some Robert Forster movies you guys would recommend besides Jackie Brown and Medium Cool (and Mulholland Dr. obviously)? He has a smallish but funny and touching part in Alexander Payne's fine film The Descendants , playing George Clooney's father-in-law. That aside, I'd like to hear other...

Re: Mark Frost & Fire Walk With Me

I think Lynch was there post-Leland, but he was very likely detached and more indifferent, being disillusioned by the whole thing after the Laura Palmer mystery was resolved. The only time he really was engaged was obviously the finale, where he had extensively rewritten a script that was pretty mu...

Re: Great Northern in TP is like The Overlook in TS?

Hi, Is there significance in the Great Northern hotel in TP being full of traditional American Indian art, and the same with the Overlook Hotel in The Shining? Or is this common in hotels and bars throughout northern US? Of course, the Great Northern is on the whole nothing like The Overlook. But t...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Had to bite on the signed edition, given that Mark Frost doesn't seem to feel like visiting Canada! :( But, I'm stuck with my Amazon order of the book and audio book still because as I gather those copies don't ship until after the 27th (and I don't feel like waiting until mid-November to read the t...

Re: Mark Frost & Fire Walk With Me

For me, the Coop thing remains an open mystery. Frost's memory has been a bit dodgy at times (like Lynch's); for example he seems to think they shot a Maddy's death sequence with Jacoby in the Gold Box documentary, which contradicts everything he said elsewhere. I sometimes wonder if he doesn't hav...

Re: Deadly Premonition

I own a copy of it on my Steam account, really gotta sit down and play it some time (god, there's just so much to watch/read/play/listen to .. media can get overwhelming).

I'd kill for like a Telltale-made Twin Peaks adventure game. It'll never happen, but, I can dream.

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

The audio book segment makes me wish that they could've managed to swing every actor for their respective character. Lynch is a super busy man, between Peaks, the Festival, his music, etc. etc., but, it would've been so lovely to have him scream Gordon Cole's notes into our ears. It's still impressi...
