Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

Peter Deming discusses the show: http://www.indiewire.com/2017/09/twin-peaks-return-cinematographer-peter-deming-david-lynch-1201878462/ Interestingly, he says that he and DKL have such an intuitive relationship that they didn't discuss lighting at all other than an occasional descriptive adjective ...

Re: Season 3 Magazine Coverage and Articles Worldwide

Peter Deming: http://www.indiewire.com/2017/09/twin-peaks-return-cinematographer-peter-deming-david-lynch-1201878462/ Note that he says DKL stuck very close to the script. Of course, some people will continue insisting that they know what happened better than the DP and the network president, and th...

Most of that interview seems legit, but the "Satanists" reference is pretty odd and doesn't sound like Mark. Wonder if he meant it a tad ironically or was jerking the interviewer's chain, and the tone doesn't come across on print? He does have a very dry sense of humor in interviews.

Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

for some reason i can't find the thread with connections between Season 3 and earlier David Lynch work but i thought this was pretty neat. especially as i felt the attention to the opposing shots of the open and closed hands were very pronounced in the scene where Red shows Richard the coin trick. ...

She doesn't look or act frazzled or overburdened, Junkie Mom next door looks frazzled and overburdened. Nor does Janey-E express concern for anyone except herself, least of all Dougle or Sonny-jim. She's shipping Dougie to work, because thats where she needs him to be, to earn money for her. HE obv...

she's worried that without money her family won't be safe. She's motivated by primal needs for shelter, safety, and security. ... and the fact that she expects a MAN to be the route to achieving those things is kind of the point. You'd have to ignore the total lack of affection or concern shown tow...

I may be alone in this but I have always interpreted the phonecall scene between Ben and Sylvia differently than most people I've seen write about it. After Sylvia hangs up and Ben asks, "Beverly, do you want to have dinner with me?"... it feels to me like Beverly has already gone home fo...

Re: Philip Jeffries learned the horrific truth about Twin Peaks before we, the viewers did...

come to think about it, Episode 8 is one of the best examples i've seen of meshing Frost's interests and writings with Lynch's visual and audiotorial style. Do you mean Part 8 of the new show? If so, I agree wholeheartedly. Episode 8 of the original show is also an interesting case study, if you do...

In light of TSHoTP, it's a little odd that the name "Dougie" doesn't ring a bell for Gordon, especially in connection with Garland Briggs. According to the book, Cole worked with Milford for years. Or maybe Gordon does make this connection, and that's why he becomes alarmed and says they h...

Throughout this rewatch, I've been thinking about the later reveal that Ray was an FBI informant. This has seemed a bit off/convoluted to me ever since it was revealed, and I'm still not really sure it holds together. So, Ray was reporting to Gordon, but Gordon was seemingly totally unaware that Ray...

Mr. Reindeer, as i notice you are rewatching the episodes right now i would like to recommend watching episode 11 and episode 13 in tandem, followed by 12 and 14. there was some talk in the episodes thread back when these had aired that suggested that there's really nothing in the stories that woul...

Come to think about it, after The Giant says "You are far away" Cooper disappears from the chair which is illustrated by the same visual effect used in ep. 17 when Coop is transported into the B&W footage from FWWM. as far as i remember this is the only times this effect was used. Dra...

I believe the convenience store scene was visually all David all day, but the mythos behind say for example E-LEC-TRI-CITY being a paranormal conduit, and a means for spiritual transportation, is STRAIGHT OUT OF ISIS UNVEILED by Helena Blavatsky, recommended apocrypha for anyone trying to understan...

In regard to Lynch's persona, did you guys/gals ever buy into that whole naive and kooky "Oh, golly" image he's so successfully cultivated? I was always skeptical of it, but TR totally destroyed it for me. I don't think anyone has ever doubted that Lynch has a dark side, from the moment t...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I'm not expecting The Final Dossier to reveal anything at all, for some reason. Does anyone else feel that way? In principle, it could totally explain whatever Briggs was doing, and also set up the plan that Cooper/Jeffries/Briggs were working on, and that could reveal more about the finale. But I ...
