Re: What we learned about the Twin Peaks mythology in part 8 (SPOILERS)
I'm starting to doubt whether the girl is Sarah because I think the insect/bug is just too sinister looking to possibly represent Laura in any way, even withstanding how Lynch manipulates duality.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
How do people feel about the digital cinematography after E8? I thought it was simply stunning. And the visual effects remarkable, especially the physics textures of the bubble stream and the insect.

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome) (SPOILERS)
I'm not a NIN fan or anything but I loved their performance - more than most of the Road House performances so far, it really seemed integral to the plot - it conveyed to me the spirit of the soot covered lodge men. Tonally, musically, even visually it worked, although it seemed a tad long. I was w...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome) (SPOILERS)
I rewatched the S2 finale and, without trying to dismiss the old show, it's amazing how "quaint" it seems in comparison to the lengths Lynch and Frost have extended the mythology now. I remember seeing that extended Red Room sequence and being utterly in awe that something like that could ...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
Everybody assumed that Mr. C will kill Ray and will head where the coordinates lead him. Now I guess that he will need to find Hastings secretary himself? Or he'll go to the Farm to find Ray again? Or to Argentina to find Jeffries? Holy fuck, this has to be the most unpredictable show ever! The epi...

For all the talk about the "bad" CGI, I agree. That sequence felt to me like a cross between 2001 and The Tree of Life's creation scenes - but better!djsunyc wrote:the slow zoom into the mushroom cloud may be the best cgi/visual i've ever seen on film.

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
I'm glad to read the show was trending on Twitter last night. Some famous directors tweeting about it too including Rian Johnson, who's directing the new Star Wars (and must have a big fanbase!).

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
Im shocked we haven't gotten a glimpse of Ed yet 8 ! Eight episodes in and nothing from him , a single scene of James , a couple of Bobby scenes , Nadine just smiling at a screen .. I would have never guessed jerry would have gotten more screen time by this point in the series than those original c...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
The scenes in '56 are Lynch at his best. Offsetting the iconic beauty of young Sarah (?) on her bed dreaming away to the music and the malevolence of '???' and the birth of evil is almost his career in a nutshell. I am in total awe of what I saw.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Well I like to get straight to business.  You see! I'm liking you already! :) I have no qualms with you disliking things, but I can't help but feel some of the statements you make just go out to provoke. Absolutely I do. I love the discussions that people provoke. Probably a been a b...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
You see, there are many examples in film and TV where I can see this. But I have never, ever seen Lynch as falling into this category whatsoever. Again, it's fine not to like them, but I really resent it when people pull out the pretentious card when it's not at all deserved. It's just not true for...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Would love to know exactly why it is "pretentious". Just because you don't like it? I also think you show a misunderstanding of Lynch and the idea of the "Lynchian" style. Lynch's actual style as a director isn't so surreal - it's the subject matter that defines the weirdness. I...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Gotta say, Gabriel, you make some compelling standpoints (though I fear it's only a matter of time before you're accused of trolling if you keep it up on this forum... :) ). I'm particularly intrigued by your conceptualization of TV as a form of craft, not art! Regarding the recent revelation of yo...
