Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I wish The Return was structured like this. For example, we follow Cooper's return to himself in the first 8 episodes or whatever. Then in the next 8 we follow Laura's return. Eventually they both meet again around episode 16 and then the final two episodes are the climax and resolution. This is st...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I'm okay if the journey of the diary pages from the diary into the bathroom doesn't strictly adhere to continuity. Twin Peaks comes with a built in escape hatch for these sorts of problems, where all discrepancies can just be attributed to some sort of Lodge-ness. That being said, it would be fun if...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I think the question of what happened between Coop and Diane will be a really interesting to see revealed as the show moves on. For me, it’s still not even clear whether this last encounter happened before (i.e., with normal Coop, say before he even wen to Twin Peaks), or after (i.e., DoppelCoop, p...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I wonder if the unspeakable act that transpired between Diane and Cooper will have to do with the tape recordings that he always sent her. Although there are some insinuations of an assault taking place, he could've also recorded a tape for that included some sort of Lynchian industrial noise from t...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I didn't consider the Jerry-channeling-Coop thing at all, but wow, that would be fascinating if they went down that route, or at least explored the possibility of that. We might not get Kyle Maclachlan playing Dale Cooper for a while (or at least Dale Cooper as we knew him), so maybe it would be sor...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

Odd that Hawk says there were 4 pages missing from Laura's diary. In the original it was so badly destroyed by Harold I doubt they had any idea what was missing. Also not sure Leland having them makes sense. I remember there was a theory that Leland killed Harold and ransacked his apartment for the...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I'm pretty sure that Richard is the hellspawn of DoppelCoop and Audrey Horne. I don't think Linda will be related to them though. My weird and unexplained hunch is that Linda will be another character that just happens to resemble Laura Palmer (and be played by Sheryl Lee). That's my hope for the mo...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

The scene with Ben Horne and Beverly Paige listening to the wall sounds was fantastic. I loved their acknowledgement and investigation of the foreboding sound, and I loved the subtext for both characters. Ben, holding back his lust for his young assistant, and Beverly's awkwardness, which ties into...

Re: what is canon to you and why?

I take the ending of the International Pilot to be part of Cooper's dream somehow. Maybe his actual dream in episode 2 wasn't 100% like that, but his recollection of the dream the next morning reflects details from the International Pilot. So while he didn't actually dream the full ending of the Int...

Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

I imagine that if the Mill did completely go under shortly after the original series, then the town of Twin Peaks would've begun sliding towards something resembling Dear Meadow over a period of 20 years or so. It has been hard to gauge the socio-economic setting of the town in the new series though...

Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

Kind of a trivial question, but who owns the Packard Saw Mill now? There seemed to be some logging activity just before the Red & Richard interaction. I remember something in Secret History about Catherine signing Ghostwood back to Ben... Did she give him the mill as well? It just seems like if ...

Re: "The Prisoner" connections with DougieCoop (Prisoner spoilers)

Might be Jeffries, though we do see the machine achter Bad Coop's prison call. But even With Jeffries behind the hitmen, I do think the nature of the duality of Number 6 and The Prisoner as a program had a every different idea behind it. I definitely agree with you on that point. The Village is att...

Re: "The Prisoner" connections with DougieCoop (Prisoner spoilers)

Just started a The Prisoner-topic in the general discussion forum. Anyway, I do think the premise of both identity thefts are different. The Prisoner is not about loss or lack of identity, it's about conformity, lack of individuality. The schizoid man is meant to make him disoriented, making his in...

"The Prisoner" connections with DougieCoop (Prisoner spoilers)

The situation DougieCoop is in (memory wiped, dropped into another man's life) reminds me of The Prisoner. I'm sure others are making more articulate comparisons between these two series, and I admittedly haven't watched The Prisoner in some time, but DougieCoop's dilemna reads as a long-form Prison...
