Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)

I absolutely love all the Lynch weirdness and the intentionally stylized fx. Good Coop's journey from the Red Room to the point he replaced Dougie was great every bit of it. Tamara Preston is terrible though. Is she really going to walk like that the whole series? Generally I like to hold off judgem...

Re: Samurai Jack is back!

Edited to add: I wonder about overlap with TP fans. Both series are unusually rich artistically, and also are very much about good v. mysterious evil, there may well be an overlap. If there's not much of an overlap, there should be! Also there's this, the Samurai Jack revival will conclude the day ...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31

I just find that cross media stuff tends to be pointless by design. You can't create something that is in anyway essential to the narrative in a form that most people won't consume. I enjoyed Secret History (and I'm very excited to see something that might actually fill the gap), but, I picture it ...

Not Dougie Milford but the alternate Ed and Nadine story, non-existence of Annie? I do think the series will shed light on that. But we'll see.

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31

I'm not at all inclined to write off TSOTP. There's no reason to rush to judgement regarding the inconsistencies. There are too many of them and they are so obvious that they were clearly put there for a specific reason, which we aren't going to know about until we see the new series. Again I don't ...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31

I don't think there's any great importance intended with the use of the word "final". I think Mark Frost would be the first to admit that the television episodes are the core of the franchise and his books are supplements.

Re: Beyond Season 3?

This revival should be about finishing unfinished business. For me the ideal situation is that season 3 brings the story to a satisfying emotional conclusion, and it is well regarded and profitable enough that Showtime greenlights an original project from Frost and Lynch.... Or just Lynch.

Re: Least Favorite Storyline in Twin Peaks

All of the choices in the poll are pretty obvious ones, and all worthy of getting picked (though I will say that Lynch managed to get something good out of Leo as a vegetable and Nadine in high school plots, and managed to make the hokey melodrama of the Donna's father reveal feel surreal... the onl...

Re: Samurai Jack is back!

I had no idea there was a Powerpuff Girls reboot. I'd guess the Samurai Jack reboot isn't comparable. It's driven creatively by more than just a desire to cash in on nostalgia.

These were nice. Not too much. But I'm doing everything I can to avoid reading anything about the new series before I can see it, and even the slightest crumbs make me hungry for more...

Re: Samurai Jack is back!

This revival is off to an amazing start. This is exactly what a revival should do, take the story into uncharted territory. I imagine most of the posters here have never seen this show... this is a special piece of pop art that shouldn't be missed.

Samurai Jack is back!

I don't know if there is a great deal of crossover interest between Twin Peaks fans and fans of the animated series Samurai Jack, but I happen to be one and am almost as excited (I'd stop short of saying as excited, but just barely) about the return of this show as I am about the return of Twin Peak...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I'm personally probably gonna try to avoid reading too many forum posts/reviews after each episode airs, if just because I've found lately on shows that the internet's predictions/speculations post-episodes tends to be startlingly accurate and end up accidentally spoiling things (the problem of hav...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I have no problems with comic books- I read them voraciously as a kid. And I'm not trying to be overly defensive as a comics nerd who enjoy these movies. I just hate the whining you hear from so many these days about "all Hollywood makes is comic book movies." Last year there were six, th...
