DUNE on Blu Ray April 27, 2010 from Universal

April 27th, 2010: Dune [Blu-ray] (David Lynch, 1984) Universal Home Video (You can pre-order from Amazon.com). This is the same as the one released by Universal a few years ago in that metal case with both the Original Theatrical Version and Extended Alan Smithee Version. Should have the same extras...

Re: Pierre Morel to Direct DUNE!!

I think this is wonderful news--because Morel will do such a hack job with this movie (with plenty of CGI and action and probably in 3D oh my!) it will make David Lynch's version the one to seek out for the truly inspired one--and then hopefully no one will attempt to make it again, ever. I'm surpri...

Re: New Lynch exhibit: "Femmes d'influence" in Paris

I e-mailed the Galerie des Galeries in France regarding a pressbook. Here is the reply: Dear sir, We thank you for the interest you are showing in David Lynch's work at the Galeries Lafayette. Unfortunately, there will not be any book published especially for this project. Nevertheless, at the end o...

Re: David's Address???

Driven by his house a couple of times on my way into LA proper. He's not that far from Kyle. Sorry, I won't tell but it's easy to find if you know where to look. Well, now, that's a BIG help!!! Could you be a little more specific, please?? I don't think this person lives in LA. The mystery is part ...

Re: Mysteryman's whisper

I downloaded the wave file and can almost make out the words but for the most part I'm confounded. I think I have a clue and Just watched the movie again to see if I was right. I have to say it's one of my all time favorite Lynch films. Still, I would definitely love to know what the mystery man is ...

Re: Jennifer Lynch's Surveillance

Just saw this film here in the wee hours of a warm and cozy LA night... ***WARNING SPOILER ALERT*** "Surveillance" is all about surface. That's fine if the thrills were that great. They're not. The best way to describe the film is this way: Take a scene like you find in Lost Highway where ...

Re: R1 vs MK2

Saw the R1 against the R2 edition... literally side by side in a high-end post-production facility with a super HD monitor and... The Universal R1 release of Lost Highway is the SUPERIOR PICTURE, hands down! (Yes, I know this contradicts what I said before). Even if there are no extras (thanks a lot...

Re: Eraserhead is my most spiritual movie...

Try this quote and see if it can be applied to Eraserhead: "When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things." A person who destroys the child "metaphorically speaking" in an effort to "mat...

Great pic.

Always seemed to me Sean Young's part was much bigger and that there is more footage locked away somewhere. In the final version you start to get a sense of their relationship and then she basically disappears and then shows up near the end.

Re: Dune/Spartacus

Actually Spartacus was originally supposed to be directed by Anthony Mann but I believe Kirk Douglas or the studio had him fired and called up his friend Stanley (since they had done "Paths Of Glory" together) to take over the reigns. Everything was already in place, so Stanley came in at ...
