Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?
That show became fan service festival. It keeps getting worse. I watch it basically to see how the hell they're gonna end all that mess. Winds of Winter can't come soon enough. Last season (6) was a step down, but I thought the prior few were very good in proportion to how much they deviated from t...

The Color Green in Lynch's Work
Cross posted on Reddit. I have found green the slipperiest color in Lynch's symbolic system. The woods are green, of course, a deep dark green, but the primary uses are a more "processed" green: the nauseous green of the walls in Inland Empire, Diane Selwyn's blanket and other ill interior...

Re: What will be the Opening Theme music for the new show?
Falling in a title "slot" for first episode (not necessarily opening - there may be a cold open, maybe even a long one). For subsequent episodes, whatever fits the episode (sometimes open with different music, sometimes no music. Second guess - some version of the original theme opening ta...

Re: The time Russ Tamblyn met The Manson Family
That is surreal. https://simply-sharon-tate.tumblr.com/post/142544963524/richard-beymer-and-sharon-tate-photographed-in It's like one more datapoint turned "cool, the #1 and #2 Jets are on a show together" into a parallel lives, surface/undercurrent version of how the boomer ethic played o...

Re: Twin Peaks world premiere in Cannes
I saw the Lost pilot at comic con (most of it - they cut it after the "smoke monster tosses Greg Grunberg" scene) which is almost the "I was at Woodstock" of the nu-fandom era (the "con audience preview generates frenzy" thing starts with that event). The experience of ...

Re: Twin Peaks and the colour blue
Also, 'riding the white horse' refers to using powdered stimulants such as cocaine. Have heard this phrase all the time since the late 70s and it is always heroin (alternate: simply "horse"). Cocaine has a less common "white pony" nickname. But there are always overlapping symbo...

Re: Part 0 and part 1 now have episode descriptions
Look at the other Showtime shows - the titles are Part 0 and Part 1, the sentence tags are in the position of episode descriptions.
I just posted this because the small crumbs of poetic description just seem so right for this that I get goosies.

Part 0 and part 1 now have episode descriptions
On the Showtime website, short sentence descriptions have been added (not much spoiling, just pithy little epigrams).

I couldn't be more psyched. We have 18 hours and this is a whole new palette for Lynch to paint with. It really adds to my excitement.

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?
Man, so many things to say (great thread!). 1. The first season of Utopia and the first episode of the second are so fantastic, I get kind of mad that Black Mirror stole the allotted American-BBC-show-obsession slot from it. I got less into the remainder of the second season, but that show is seriou...

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?
'Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me' is still one of the best TV scripts I think I've ever seen. Oh, yeah... That was the other great late season 2 episode I was trying to remember. The Devils in the diner one. What the heck happened to Darin Morgan anyway? And don't say "autoerotic asphyxiation.&qu...

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?
but man there's some mindblowing episodes in season 2 that you might have missed. the two parter that closes that season is some of the finest, gutsiest television ever produced. Seconded - If you haven't seen the part of the season 2 finale where Lara goes insane to the tune of Patti Smith's Horse...

Re: What is the general take on 'Who killed Teresa'?
Coming from a comics background, I look at these resurrections in a more eternal recurrence, mythopoetic way. Death of a beloved character has real impact but some of the meaning accrues from a never ending cycle of death and rebirth as a part of an eternal pattern. I think TP supports this pretty w...
