Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
This goes back to what I was saying before, even if the show was tight it was going to be an uphill battle. The two things the press was talking about was The Who killed the dead blond girl in plastic, and the FBI guy and the saddle shoe vixen, and how weird talking logs and little men in red were. ...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
I hear yay. I have a friend who finally watched The Return and called me, and friends visiting Snoqualmie calling me nostalgically, thus making me nostalgic. I hear you about giving a show a chance to really find its audience and Cheers is a perfect example. I was way too young but still watched tha...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
Ahhhh. Sorry. Back on topic. Here’s a question… maybe the show treated ABC badly?
In broad terms of generalizing the show to the viewing public, there were still at least three nighttime soaps on at the time, and based on the tone of quirky, Northern Exposure was gaining traction.

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
It’s true. I was fully expecting lots of young, nubile actors running around Cooper with occasional drop by and waves from the old timers. But stop pointing out the silver linings! This was the craziest most head scratching how do you structure a story I’ve ever seen, even if it is surrealism, examp...

Love ya, dugpa.
And if anyone asked why do I even bother to watch this show I hate so much…. I guess because I love it too much. * I have issues. **this is still a lot of fun!

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
Ha… eh, if Piper Laurie says she’s interested, you bring her back. If they winged the Peaks characters in the town after finding out who says they’re available and put a Jerry Horne running in a field, they could’ve brainstormed for five minutes for their Hollywood royalty. Then again, I was baffled...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
I get that. But for the most part, film is collaborative. Hitchcock, Ford, Hawks, Capra, Wilder, Wyler, Lubitsch worked with some of the best writers around. (Preston Sturges could do both expertly) … and for me though I love David, I don’t think writing dialogue is his strong suit. And to me, Peaks...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
Well, my two get off the couch and jump up and down are both from season two. Cooper rescuing Audrey was a screaming fist bump with the viewing crowd, probably the best earned cheering. And then the killer reveal was the running around the room covering my face… brilliant to be waiting to find out w...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
Hell, I was so excited for Season Two. To me, it’s not about the real Twin Peaks starting then. Naturally in any story the more and more exciting events should be happening as we go along. Like a car chase scene in a middle of a movie, and naturally it should be more thrilling than the setup… if the...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
Ha, that’s right. During the whole first season I kept saying, “oh, stop wasting time on the guy in the denim outfit, we all know it’s a misdirect.” And also stop going back to the murdered blond girl’s grieving family, it’s like a downer… stick to the whodunit suspects. You all think it’s Leo or Be...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
I forgot about the whole Who Shot Cooper cliffhanger. I mean I didn’t forget it, but how it was handled. It was never addressed as a dangling still out there plot line. So I just assumed Leland shot him. Then months later (in real life) it comes back up out of the blue and I was like, “oh, that’s st...

Well, this is probably more productive than the eight thousand page thread wondering if the show is coming back.

Re: Viewing Mid Season 2 as a Dream (like a mini version of The Dallas Dream Season)
They did basically retcon it though, didn’t they? In The Return thing, aside from the mention of Annie in episode, er, part 7, and Lana’s name in Frost’s book, everything is a continuation from episode sixteen… aside from Lynch’s second season finale. I could be wrong, I am really foggy on The Return.

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?
Yes, they showed the first season again in the summer of 1990 leading up to the second season premiere. And they aired on Saturday night in the new time slot. The only difference I believe was the pilot was shown on a Sunday (like it originally was) and episode five and six was combined. The week be...
