Re: How would a Twin Peaks movie in 1992 have fared if it was a direct sequel Instead of a prequel?

Were this sequel to exist in 1992/3... it might need to be about more than just "Coop is possessed, lets save Coop" to be compelling. I liked what we got in 2017 -- it wasn't so much about saving Cooper as sort of Cooper's personality getting nuked and him having to re-learn how to functio...

Re: How would a Twin Peaks movie in 1992 have fared if it was a direct sequel Instead of a prequel?

yeah, I like DS9 on Netflix. The binge watching experience helps. I like all the unrequited love stuff with Odo and Kira, and the Dominion arc made so easy to follow when you can take charge and rewind episodes whenever you lose track or haven't watched in a while. I was totally lost in the 90's an...

Re: How would a Twin Peaks movie in 1992 have fared if it was a direct sequel Instead of a prequel?

I think one difference between a sequel in 1992 and 2017 is the internet/streaming / DVD/ blu ray to catch up. I was always getting lost and confused in the 90's with 'continuing stories', I remember the dominion war on Star Trek: Deep Space 9, whenever I tuned in, I was lost with what was what. Lo...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

I still really love Season 3 -- but in the time that has passed since its initial airing, I've been able to look at without the air of excitement that surrounded its debut in 2017, and I now can admit there are some things about it that maybe aren't perfect. I generally like most of the musical acts...

Re: Why exactly did ABC treat the show so badly?

Just hypothetically, I wonder if had the show not revealed the killer when it did, would Peaks have gotten repetitive and predictable with a new "Did character (x) kill Laura?" arc every couple of episodes..? I don't think the fact that they revealed it was the problem, more so the rushed ...

Re: Sopranos thoughts (spoilers)

Two other random things that strike me in the episode "Members Only": - in keeping with the insinuation that Tony gets whacked while on his boat, there is a random scene in this episode where he is sitting at a Japanese restaurant, and seems to have trouble swallowing a piece of sushi. Sha...

Re: Comparing the ending of Fire Walk With Me to the ending of The Return.

That's something I've wondered about before as well. I've never been able to totally reconcile the two endings -- maybe Cooper undoes the FWWM ending, maybe S3 is a dream, I don't know. Thinking about it now though, I have to wonder if it somehow reflects a shift in Lynch's own thinking. 30 years ag...

Re: Lynch/Frost collaborating on S4

I'd prefer they worked together, but something tells me they don't even agree on what happened in the final scene of Season 3.

Re: Sopranos thoughts (spoilers)

I don't have some big overarching theory, but it is fun to draw connections between seemingly unrelated things in The Sopranos, specifically the final scene and relatively minor character Eugene Pontecorvo (and of course Eugene's Pontecorvo's Members Only jacket). A lot of other people have kicked a...

Re: What is your Twin Peaks unpopular opinion?

Not sure if I have any hot takes or unpopular opinions about Twin Peaks... But I do have one about another Lynch work. I don't particularly care for Lost Highway. I could list a lot of reasons to support my feelings, but ultimately I think its just a case of either it resonates with you or it doesn'...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

If nothing else, Michael Cera as the (supposed) offspring of Andy and Lucy is inspired casting. And as much as I love Robert Forster, I do think the Wally Brando scene is one instance where Michael Ontkean would have worked better. Forster is probably a better actor by most metrics, but he internali...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Re: Wally's parentage Never thought about Wally being the offspring of Chantal/Hutch, but maybe that could work? I honestly didn't put much thought into Wally's origin until I noticed that bizarre photo of Lucy and Andy with a weird baby doll, behind Lucy's desk in the police station. Maybe it's not...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

S1 & S2 were filmed at the old City Studios at 7700 Balboa in Van Nuys. I think it's called Occidental now. Before the sets were struck, an episode of 'Tales From the Crypt' titled 'Split Second' was filmed there. It's a trip watching another show on those sets. Whoa! Never knew that... Will ha...

Susie walking in on Jeff and Larry watching "Eraserhead" (or any Lynch film) would be the greatest thing ever.

And I think S2 was my favorite for the longest time, but maybe S3 surpassed it during the past year.
