Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
What do you think of the look? I love it. I have no problem whatsoever with anything except the curtains in the Black Lodge not having that lovely glow. But that's a minor quibble amidst the feast of weirdness and beauty. I was hoping Lynch's rhapsodic words about film during the Missing Pieces wor...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome) (SPOILERS)
This was my exact experience with both IE and Eraserhead. After first viewings, I was frustrated and angry at myself for not "understanding," and was too focused on "solving" the films to let them wash over me in their dreamy, unconscious way. After mulling for a day or two, I r...

Yes- good point about the use of colour. I don't think the Tati influence can be emphasized enough in relation to The Return.alreadygoneplaces wrote:A lot of the DougieCoop scenes seem really inspired by Tati, not just the pace and gentle humour, but visually... all of the vibrant bright reds remind me of Mon Oncle....

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Someone here once or twice compared The Return to a series. All i can remember is that the episodes lasted like 90 minutes (they may have been 13) and that they were extremely slow paced. Can someone help me find out which series was? I don't see the comparison to Out 1 myself- if you think The Ret...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
As much as I hate to say this, so far, 6 episodes in as I type this, season 3 has not been anywhere near the brilliance of the original run . For me, it is exactly the opposite. What was so billiant about the original run? The pilot was brilliant, so was episode 14 and so was episode 29. The other ...

Re: Parts 3 & 4 - Call for help & ...brings back some memories (SPOILERS)
It took forever to read this thread! So yeah, it's on an incline for me, but I'm not feeling Peaksy whatsoever This has been brought up a lot and I have finally come to a conclusion about it. I'm glad that it's not feeling so Peaksy yet. We're struggling along with Cooper, lost in unfamiliar territ...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome) (SPOILERS)
On the topic of golden shovels, pretty much everybody started analyzing them right away looking for some deeper meaning. But what if there isn't any? What if what we saw is what we were going to get? Fake gold from a snake oil salesman. If it stays that way, it will be one of those clues hidden in ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I'm loving all of these people who liked Twin Peaks for it's soap opera qualities in the original run- now that has been largely excised in the new series they have nothing to hold onto- they're floundering around like squid on the floor. The new series is also separating the wheat from the chaff- t...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)
Well, about the narrative. I happened to read James Joyce's Ulysses a couple of months ago (Well, it took me from september until february to be honest). I'm not going to say Lynch intended or was inspired by this complex novel, but I'm starting to think that I don't find the episodes, pace or scen...

Re: The Prisoner
I did see The Prisoner (1967 series) mentioned in the "What to watch while waiting for Twin Peaks"-topic but didn't find a topic to discuss the series itself. It's definitely one of my favourite series. People often say that Twin Peaks opened up possibilities for series and storytelling, ...

Re: Huge Tati influence in The Return
If there ever comes a topic "confess your moviegoer's sins", I'm gonna have to post: never seen a single Tati film  Therefore I can hardly relate to what you're saying! Not many people have- if you watch a couple- especially some of his later films TP: The Return really comes into f...

Huge Tati influence in The Return
Hi Folks, Just wondering if anybody else thinks that there is a huge Jacques Tati influence in TP Season 3: The Return? I know that Lynch has talked about Tati in the past and you can see it right from the get go in Eraserhead plus other movies ( the man with the long red pole in Wild at Heart )- bu...
