Re: Part 13 - What story is that, Charlie? (SPOILERS)

I’ve come to really like most of the Mr. C material, but for some reason the arm-wrestling scene just doesn’t really do it for me. I’m always rooting for it to pull me in, but it just feels like such a normal, predictable scene that could be from any movie. It is interesting that Mr. C sort of beco...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

I've grown to really like the use of the Shawn Colvin "Viva Las Vegas" (which I had forgotten until recently is also featured in The Big Lebowski!). It's not a great recording, but paired with the footage, it provides a tone I can't quite put my finger on, which you don't usually see expr...

Re: Twin Peaks Actually Explained (Youtube)

I cannot believe this topic has only two pages, considering that thousands and thousands of pages have been produced on TP theory/interpretation on this board. I am not saying that this guy is correct on every single detail (or that this is the only perspective on the show), but some of his discove...

Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)

It’s interesting, Diane doesn’t appear to be acting when she meets the Doppelganger in prison and asks who he is. But here, we learn that she’s working for him and they exchange texts. I wonder if her tulpa programming blocks her from remembering certain things at certain times. Or if her loyalty t...

Re: Part 5 - Case files (SPOILERS)

Just so we’re clear: Lorraine gets the initial job to kill DougieCoop from Duncan Todd, and she farms it out to Gene and Jake. When they haven’t completed it, she texts “2” to the box (ARGENT), presumably as an acknowledgement of her failure? Mr. C then somehow gets the message, or perhaps just sen...

Re: Parts 3 & 4 - Call for help & ...brings back some memories (SPOILERS)

I’m not entirely clear on whether or not DoppelCoop intended to get arrested at this point. Obviously he wanted to get to Ray, and downloaded the prison schematics...but what a strange way to get arrested. It seems unnecessarily risky to be driving at 2:53 when he anticipated things going haywire. ...

Re: Part 5 - Case files (SPOILERS)

I love the Buenos Aires space and the room to dream that it leaves the audience. It looks like a neglected file room or derelict file storage space. I’m guessing that this was the device that Jeffries (or was it always someone impersonating him?) used to contact Mr. C on his device as we see in Par...

That opening Fireman scene is still an enigma. I know it’s been said that it was originally planned to be placed somewhere else, and it would sure be interesting to learn where. In the Blue Rose issue 11, in an interview with Dunham, he says he remembers that it came later, but was moved to the beg...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Hey all. First new post here in a LONG time. Hope you're all doing well. So, Lynch has started doing his weather reports again. They are getting progressively bluer. Some have pointed out this may be a hint to more TP. What do you all think? Hm. I want to say that's a stretch, but on his old report...

Re: Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

I think the reason the rushed/chaotic nature of the FWWM version sort of works for me is that there IS a built-in inevitability: Laura has already resolved to die so Bob can’t inhabit her, Leland knows he has to kill Laura...so in a way, it is sort of a race to the finish line at this point for bot...

Re: Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

So my reading of that line has generally been that it is implying Leland is out of control. But your post got me thinking about how it can be read two ways. one, that bob is in control but two, as the classic language of an abuser. So many abusers blame the victims for their abusive acts and frame ...

Re: Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

The scene that I've never been able to find anything but dislike for is the murder scene. Again, I can't help but compare it to the creepy, intense, amazingly edited one-sided murder scene in episode 8, and it's not unfair to do so. I dislike almost everything about the scene - the editing, the lig...

Re: Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

As for the Deer Meadow prologue and your response to IcedOver, you articulated the function of the material better than I could and I completely agree. However, playing devil’s advocate: my major objection to the format of the film, before I gave myself over to it, is that Laura deserves her own mo...

Re: Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

I don’t know how many people catch that the Irene/night shtick is a reference to the 1933 Lead Belly song “Goodnight Irene” (subsequently recorded by many others including the Weavers, which I’d guess is the version Lynch/Engels knew best; I highly recommend the Tom Waits cover). Clearly Irene has ...
