Re: Parts 1 & 2 - My log has a message for you & The stars turn and a time presents itself (SPOILERS)
Upon reflection, I have some thoughts about Part 1 and 2, with regards to Judy and Sarah. Does anyone else think that the scene with Sarah watching the violent nature program is the moment when she gets possessed by Judy ? Right before it cuts to the Roadhouse, she raises her eyes very suddenly, as...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
OK after a few months away from this thing I really like it again... Golly, I've never had such a love/hate relationship with a movie or show before like this! I was really impressed by part 5 and 11 on recent watches. Most surprisingly, I like part 17 now. I'm not crazy about the green glove guy bu...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I really wouldn't mind the revisionism if the whole thing was off the wall bonkers. If the whole thing was in the style of the beginning of Part 3, Part 8, and the end of Part 17/18, fine. It would have been easier to accept as a tangent based on the imagery and ideas of Twin Peaks. But it's the fac...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
So according to the spoiler thread of the coming Mark Frost book, Laura Palmer is now missing instead of dead and Sarah hosts a demon since she was a teenager, which means that two demon hosts got married and fathered a being of white lodge light. Does anyone else find all this convoluted mess prof...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks
^ Totally agreed! The visual appearance of the Return was very flat uninteresting to me. Something more along the lines of Inland Empire would have been a lot more striking.

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)
I think I'd be curious to see a S4 written by Lynch and Engels. No Frost. Maybe the reason The Return didn't work was the incongruity in their working relationship. Or maybe it would be just as bad as S3. I'll be watching either way!

Re: Favourite Music from the TP Collection to Date
As an album, FWWM is hands down the winner. Not only is the music some of Badalamenti's best work, but the sequencing and editing makes it a great album in and of itself. The way the Montage blends the Love Theme and Falling is incredible. My top individual tracks: - Sycamore Trees - The Pink Room -...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Yeah it's been a month now and I've basically forgot about The Return. Aside from a few striking images, I rarely revisit it in my thoughts. The original series haunted me. I'm sad to say that I think it was a fascinating failure. I still think Lynch has talent but there just wasn't a strong core ho...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I really like Eraserhead and I adore Inland Empire, but overall I don't think I like The Return. Re-watched the original Pilot tonight and I'm glad to say that rather than tainting the original, the existence of The Return elevates it. It's funny because back when I was more optimistic about The Ret...

When Mr C's face morphed to Bob in Part 5 I was in awe. Would have liked to see more of that.

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
Nope. Though it's markedly better than Eps 17-28 of the original, for the most part. I'm glad it was made and it's been a fun ride, but at the moment I'm left feeling like it was ultimately a missed opportunity and I don't feel compelled to revisit it any time soon. Time will tell!

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Hmm, "lucky to have his career" ? Gimme a break. Yeah, The Return kinda sucks but it doesn't take away from the enormous talent exhibited throughout his career. I think his paintings are hauntingly beautiful. There are many artists whose work declines in their later years, and with The Ret...
