Kyle in EW: http://ew.com/tv/2017/12/11/kyle-maclac ... tv-debate/

Interestingly, he talks about playing Mr. C opposite Laura Dern (presumably referring to the “Richard” persona).

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What I was trying to say is, this season represents L/F’s vision of TP as of 2017, albeit imperfectly realized (as all artistic works are, to a greater or lesser degree). I don’t believe that a larger budget alone would have led to a version of the show that would have won any more converts. Maybe ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

The original TP and The Elephant Man aside, DKL’s films don’t typically garner much awards-show attention. The show is living up to DKL’s usual MO, as I predicted: critically worshiped, a very modest financial success, and one or two awards nominations.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

No, I did not take it personally (not sure where you got that from, it is just a show after all). Neither should L&F take any criticism personally either (if they were to read it on these boards). You missed my point though: Dougie should have been on the DVD box itself as the "probably mo...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

People who do not like this thread point to it as being vitriolic, but the point is that this was how we saw this show, this act of taking Dale Cooper and serving us a brain-dead plant fumbling on the screen for 80% of time, teasing us with his imminent return (25 years later!), was actually what w...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Reindeer, I don’t think that’s true that we’d be disappointed in whatever Lynch and Frost gave us. I was fully on board. Still loving these discussions though! Sorry, I think I expressed myself imprecisely. I was responding specifically to Kilmore’s post about how the show’s perceived flaws might b...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

This information about their resources being limited kinda makes me feel better about the show. I mean, it's crap, and they should have sized it down according to resources available, but still. The slowness, the filler scenes, the music videos, the editing mistakes, poorly constructed characters, ...

Yes, those are two words that I used. Did you want to say something about them? Do you not believe the glass box creature is Judy/Jowday?

Re: Parts 1 & 2 - My log has a message for you & The stars turn and a time presents itself (SPOILERS)

I’ll lead off with the big discovery I haven’t seen mentioned before...Officers Olson and Douglas accompany Macklay to arrest Bill Hastings in squad car number (wait for it) 119 (in case this wasn’t clear enough, the rear part of the car has emblazoned on it, “CALL 911”). Earlier in Part 1, the same...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

Some very preliminary thoughts, having just finished the first disc: I personally loved the packaging for The Complete Mystery, but I know some felt the discs were held too snugly (may those people never experience the Mad Men complete series set, which is aesthetically very nice but logistically, i...

Amazon recheduled mine for 12/18. What a joke. Canceled and just purchased at Best But. So excited to have it in my hand!

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Wow, I’m surprised CBS let that footage onto the discs. It cuts against the “creator-friendly network” vibe Showtime has been trying to cultivate with this show. Nothing surprises me after hearing a couple of actresses say on the Gold Box edition how much the second season of Twin Peaks sucked :-)....

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

I appreciate that the show was written and shot as one big production (although Mark has now admitted that the script was originally written with “chapter” breaks that they eventually deleted). But to me, the production background, while interesting, is not relevant to the equation. Most of MD was s...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think, when Ontkean dropped out at the last minute, it tickled L/F to continue the series’ theme of “doubling” by introducing the idea of “two Sheriff Trumans,” casting the actor who was originally supposed to play him in the pilot. In fact, I’d bet that if Forster weren’t available, they would ha...
