Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31
I read the book again recently (after loving it the first time), and almost enjoyed it more second time round. It had a lot more stuff in it than I remembered. I'm definitely with you in enjoying the whole look and feel of the book. I like to simply walk to the bookshelf and paw at it from time to t...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
That's a good thought actually. It would make sense to restrict themselves to the early part of the series.
I haven't watched TV live in years, but I remember when I were a lad that you'd have little trailers for all the programmes coming up that week. It seems almost quaint looking back at it.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
I didn't say that Frost doesn't do horror. He very obviously does. He just doesn't do purely abstract story telling. He has even said, several times, that Lynch's strength is not in story telling. I don't think that's controversial is it?

I think the Mark Frost element will save it from being too far in the Inland Empire direction.
A thought just struck me- there is only one way this can end. Nadine replaces the red curtains with silent drapes.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
I actually think that the term Lynchian typically ignores his lighter material. The Straight Story is as Lynchian as Inland Empire. Both the Straight Story and the lighter bits of Twin Peaks (including in the Lynch-directed episodes) do an amazing job of recreating small town life with immense warmt...

Isn't he just somewhere else in the lodge, with his jacket done up?

In the first red room pic, Kyle looks exactly like Morrissey. Morrissey in the black lodge would be hilarious. Actually, maybe Morrissey is Bob, but he has possessed himself.

Re: Season 3 Opening scene speculation
I think the opening will be tailored to suit new viewers, so it won't reference the old series at all. That means I can't predict at all what it is! A possible starting plot would be a manhunt for a vicious killer who turns out to be bad Coop, meaning that the series would start nowhere near Twin Pe...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
Way off topic, but I have an experience from the 90s that I really love regarding Diana. If you are a Diana fan, look away now. My family were getting very, very tired of the media coverage of Diana's death, particularly the claim that the nation was united in grief (nobody I knew was at all concern...

Noted, thanks. Will add these to the list.
I used to love the 90s documentaries of Jonathan Meades for a similar reason.

http://www.grazia.fr/article/allo-miste ... aks-853087 Thanks for this TwinkPeaks. I'm learning French at the moment, so this was a more interesting read than the usual exercises! My rubbish translation is something like the following: Le 21 mai, une nouvelle saison de Twin Peaks va démarrer, dont ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
I've always been amazed at how the great British sitcom writers could simply churn out amazing episodes for 5 seasons without apparently blinking. Then write 4 more sitcoms for good measure. Having 6 episode seasons obviously helps. The American tradition of 22-24 episode seasons seems guaranteed to...

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?
I have a Dennis Potter boxset and am working up to The Singing Detective. I've watched Pennies from Heaven and most of his version of Casanova. Both of these are great, and the latter is particularly striking given how experimental it is for prime time TV in the early 70s. It must have seriously blo...

I only get 45 minutes to watch TV by doing the old "do you want me to go and rock the baby to sleep?" + noise cancelling headphones and laptop trick
