Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

Everything about the Final Cut is superior to every previous cut, and you don't see the seams of any alterations, but actually altering a scene as you describe is certainly ripe for debate. In principal, I'm on your side on that one, for sure. It's all green though. green-cut-01.jpg green-cut-02.jpg

Re: Special Effects in Season 3

The effects are just little decorative frames surrounding a page in a book, or maybe you could see them as illustrations scattered throughout a storybook. Either way, they can't reduce the content. They're not crappy lyrics clogging up a good melody, they're just visual cues. I was far more concerne...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

Possibly a combination of errors / mixups and rewrites? I see that "Doc Hayward" delivers Jacoby's lines during the shovel drop-off.

Re: Part 8: reference to 2001?

When the bomb went off in Part 8, both the visuals and the music were, to me, quite obviously inspired by the Star Gate sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey. In fact it could be considered a tribute. For that reason, I had trouble simply sitting back and being one with the scene. Recalling the absolu...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread

This is petty and superficial but did anyone else find it distracting to see a virtually unchanged Cooper visiting with an almost unrecognizable Laura? Why did they give her such heavy eyeliner and a new hairstyle? Did the One Armed Man get into cosmetology over the past 25 years?

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread

Ray deserved more. There are weird random people at the Roadhouse that had more dialog. Yeah, I have to say, I still don't enjoy those scenes. Maybe they need to age for a while, maybe I'm just not in the right frame of mind for them, but that time could have been used for something else. I don't h...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

For what it's worth, I too think that Kyle's wording/statement is the first definitive instance we've had of someone close to the production flat-out stating that it's over. This feels different to me from any quotes that have come before it, as every other quote I've read has been far more open ab...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

And with, let's face it, pretty meager results of Season 3 - both critically and financially. I'd say the general response to the new series was one big "MEH". Hardcore fans are a different story, of course. Where did you get that idea? I'm not arguing with you because I don't actually ha...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew

There's a good 30 minute argument with my brother on camera. We were shooting a scene at something like 3 in the morning, out in a courtyard amongst some old buildings, and a disagreement was had. I think back on that argument and how upset, bothered, angry, and obstinate we were for so many reasons...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew

The crew member didn’t do anything wrong. She and Scott Cameron (the First AD, who tries to take the blame) are responsible for dealing with nitty-gritty details so the director can be free to be in the moment with the actors. In this instance, they wanted to make sure they got all the coverage you...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew

Can you imagine trying to film hundreds and hundreds of takes, and giving 100% of your focus to achieving a specific vision, while your crew hounds you about how long they are? It's unthinkable. The writers have crafted something that needs to be captured on film, the director is overseeing that pro...

Re: So what was that all about?

Two Coopers? One a moron the other a monster. Interesting but it took up the entire series! Nah. I think I'm beyond Lynch now. Weirdness is ok but it's been done to death by Lynch. That's funny, I seem to recall two people creating and writing the show together. Guess I've been reading The Final Do...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Given the years of fastidious analysis and precise dissection of every word, every glance, and every twitch in Twin Peaks, these guys could very well be fucking with everyone, just to see how far an unfollow could be taken by an audience of Philosophers, Theorists, Detectives and Fanatics.
