Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

I'm taking my time with the book, savoring it and fact-checking / doing research on some of the interesting real-world elements. Something rather curious: the copyright page for the book credits FATE Magazine for allowing the use of not only the cover of the first issue, but also for the two-page Ke...

Glad the Lemurians are officially a part of TP mythology!

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

Speaking of weird inconsistencies, I'm wondering when all-American boy scout Andy Packard picked up his thick British accent.

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

The constant "Verified" and "Confirmed" notes from TP seemed a little silly, but what if they're supposed to indicate to us what sections to believe, and which ones to question? I'm still in the early going (i.e., before the series-related stuff kicks in), but so far, the "...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

The more I read about Twin Peaks (eg Audrey subbing in for Josie in Coop's romantic plot, Coop's eventual downfall planned from the start), the more it seems clear to me that the consummation of that romance as originally scheduled would've been a drastically negative turning point for both charact...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

I tried to cancel and redo my lazy amazon.it order and now it says it doesn't know when it's gonna ship. On the other hand, I found out this and I'm seething. Are there any lucky early readers from the UK here who can confirm that the UK "main market" version is only 358 pages long? What ...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

I upgraded my Amazon order to the one-day shipping, and Amazon claims my book has shipped and will arrive tomorrow.

Oddly, my friend who has had the book on preorder with two-day delivery received an email saying that the release has changed and ETA is now 10/20.

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

I wonder if Annie has just been retconned out entirely? No mention in the book and no Heather in S3. They'd be crazy to let that plot device slip entirely. Annie isn't like Nadine's last name or Norma's mother, Annie and Coop's story is really TP defining. What the cliffhanger at the ends towards t...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

So who's gonna ask Frost? I might have tried if I was on twitter. > Sid I'm pretty sure, it also literally says Norma's dad died in 1978. The quote sure makes it sound like Ilsa is the mom, not the grandmother. If Ilsa were Norma's grandma, the reference to "the prospect of grandchildren"...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Based on the scant info we have so far, it's silly to call the new season a "reboot." A reboot totally wipes the slate clean, ignoring (and often contradicting) everything that has previously happened in the franchise. (See Casino Royale , Batman Begins , etc.) TPS3 might be a "soft r...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

A discrepancy like the Ed/Nadine backstory is sort of a lose-lose scenario for me. I personally find "alternate universe" stories contrived and uninteresting (particularly those where some "fated" event like Ed shooting out Nadine's eye occurs years later under entirely different...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

Is there already a discrepancy in the book or am I missing something? In the beginning there is a reference to a town in the northwest part of Washington state where Cooper was doing investigating (which I assumed meant Twin Peaks), but then in the pilot episode Dale Cooper himself describes the lo...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

I'm not sure why Frost/the publisher can't just clear this up publicly. Yep, that's my beef also ... Practically from the start (or announcement) of this project, communication with the public (and fans of the show) really wasn't the production's strong side. I mean, would it kill them to drop us a...

Re: The Supernatural, Silva and the Season 2 Problem

And I don't consider S1 terribly realistic for the most part - it always had a more or less heightened quality, sometimes dreamlike, sometimes parodic. I just wish those elements had been developed with more subtlety in S2. (Come to think of it, though, a realistic sense of the workaday world of th...
