Re: Scene 35

So the girls say Helllllooooo! and she laughs and sees a frightened reflection of herself, then we don't see her again until after a few more things happen and that reflected version goes up the stairs to see Mr. K. and comes down stairs and the laughing girls greet her again, "Where ya been?&q...

Re: Scene 35

OK, assuming that she says the lines from the beginning of the film, the scene from the radio play, as I think she does, one thing it took me a long time to notice and a longer time to connect to this street scene, is that the shots of the record player and the hotel room encounter are something tha...

Re: Scene 35

Kiddo is right. It's "I'm afraid" and she is talking about the hotel room scene. That's the point. To be sure we understand, she also says "Where am I?"

Re: L.B.

No, you didn't answer the question I asked. You pretended that I had asked something else. You brought up some interesting ideas, a little like mentioning a step in a Rubik's cube, and I wondered if you had ideas about the rest of the cube. But of course it doesn't matter if you answer or not.

You must be talking to someone else here. I don't think I asked that. So excuse me for interrupting but ... what were you saying?

Re: L.B.

But because Gruszka is the woman in white, we do know the answer to Lori and Lanni's question. She, the woman in white, is the woman who commits murder-by-screwdriver. That is who she is. And because Gruszka is the woman in white, we know her motivation was jealousy. Remember when she told Polish L...

Re: L.B.

2) PLG was a prostitute who fell in love with and was impregnated by her lover played by the mustached and Polish-speaking Peter Lucas. She could not give him children because she was a street-walker and therefore could not become pregnant as it would interfere with her business. She murders Lucas'...

Re: L.B.

I'm sorry, but it just sounds ugly to hear someone justify and make excuses for a woman who shamelessly cheats on her husband. It depends on what you mean by "cheats" and "husband". We see two scenes of a woman being beaten by a man "” almost exactly the same scene with dif...

Re: "It Was Red"

MichaelPW, That's exactly my point: there is no validity or logic to the claim that Lucas's character during the shed scene is Piotrek. Absolutely nothing points to it. The man's name is Smithy. Kiddo: The rest of your last exchange with Carl and MichaelPW I agree with. Here's the problem I have wi...

Re: MTTH: Buying a watch

MichaelPW: Do you mean that although one can choose what one does, one cannot choose what one wants to do? I think that is true but I'm not sure that is the issue here. In this scene and in the movie I think it is about the action of her choosing and the consequences of it. That is, there may be all...

Re: Scene 35

The idea of what constitutes a scene itself seems subjective, as differences between our guesses here show. So in order to know what David Lynch regarded as a scene we'd have to see his script, but it doesn't matter to me exactly what he saw as that scene. I'd just been curious for some time about w...

Re: Where did the gun come from?

Let's move some pieces around and see if they can be tightened up. This is probably not the best way to bring this into focus but, just to see where we end up. Pieces: We saw Lost Girl heading upstairs with a screwdriver ready to kill someone. Yet mustache-man has been shot in the head and we didn't...

When does Kingsley say that about scene 27? I don't remember that.

Re: "It Was Red"

All the Lucas characters, whether they are given names or not, are played by the same actor for the same reason that Betty and Diane are played by the same actress in Mulholland Dr.: They are different versions of how a person could be (in a different life, in a different universe, etc.) The same pe...

Re: Where did the gun come from?

That's logical and seems to be the answer that hits home best. I just wonder if there is more to it, like how did she get the gun which killed the man she loves? Maybe it is a different gun or maybe she killed him herself, perhaps accidentally. It just seems that there must be clear answers to these...
