Re: The Laura Palmer Project
yeah sarah's awareness of/complicity in the abuse is def there in the series (as early as the "WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THIS HOUSE" stuff in s1) but the film really spells it out, doesn't let you look away

Re: FWWM questions (probably asked before but what the hell)
well, I'm afraid I can't be too mad at anyone who laughs at nicholson's mugging in the shining! I've come to realise (again, after a cinema rewatch) that I like that film more than I thought I did, but I still feel like JN's performance is a misstep (the intervening 35 years of nicholson schtick are...

Re: Fire Walk With Me as a standalone film (&/or seeing it 1
ha, seeing it 1st seems insane to me but I will try to consider it as a thought experiment I think one of the 1st things to go will be additional layer to the revelation of the killer/rapist: that not only is it laura's father, it's leland . Ray wise is barely introduced in the film, and as brillian...

Re: FWWM questions (probably asked before but what the hell)
when I watched this in the cinema recently (only my 2nd time) the security camera scene seemed to be a very obvious echo of the finale, with a blank-faced (but increasingly panicked) cooper walking back and forth between a room and a corridor, and eventually being faced with a double of himself Oh....

Re: FWWM questions (probably asked before but what the hell)
btw this was amazing to see on the big screen but kinda horrible to see with an audience somehow the (undeniably funny but also unheimlich) first half hour convinced the tittering rubes in the cinema that this was a comedy, and they persisted in reacting as such even after it was revealed to be the ...

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2
Add my name to those who love the drawer pull scene. I think the merest hint of red room stuff gets a (possibly unearned) shiver from me tho.
I'd be more amenable to the conventional wisdom re the renewed focus of the last 6 episodes if I didn't hate fucking windom earle and his corny speechifying

Re: unanswered questions / mistakes / etc.
In a similar vein to the Donna's-quick-recovery thing upthread: in the (otherwise flawless) finale, Norma is shown at the beginning blissfully dancing and making goo-goo eyes at Ed - all very nice, but shouldn't she be at least slightly concerned by the fact that she has just seen her sister abducte...

Re: in which episode was Maddy killed?
In fairness, you wouldn't be the first person to immediately forget Maddy's brutal murder
