Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I'm not sure I interpret BOB as being ultimately destroyed. Frost has co-signed to the sentiment that Part 17 is an ending, 18 a beginning, and maybe he views BOB as conclusively ended. But the way the shards float up and kind of just phase through the ceiling always left me with a lingering, eerie ...

She just might (hear me out) feel exactly how she said she felt. Not everyone is a liar.

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

When I think of the Return, I think of Gordon offering a cigarette to Diane. I think of Sam staring at the glass box. I think of Dougie, which went on far longer than anyone expected, and whose scenes are comedically functioning off of the fact that the situations (owing to Cooper's literal physical...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Yeah, I'm staunchly on the side of loving S3, but I don't think the argument holds any water that those who found it slow are just 'conditioned' by recent media; not only is it presumptuous, it's condescending. That is not correct or fair. Lynch and Frost have specifically stated that the pacing an...

While I have seen people who find IE boring, mostly due to its length, that film is extre...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

I never thought about how soon after S3 covid swept the world. If nothing of the country-spanning, hundreds of characters scope of S3 can be done nowadays with Lynch at the helm, I thank the stars it happened when it did.

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I don't mind TFD when I approach it as a series of footnotes. And I think the relationship/effect TFD has to the rest of S3 is clever; TSHOTP was a preface to S3 that felt like it was toying around with uncertainty and an extreme version of an unreliable narrator. Then S3 airs and TFD reveals, in ta...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

One thing about the blue rose that backs this: it exists initially as the name they chose for their secret FBI group in the story told by Albert, based on the concept of something that doesn't exist in nature and only symbolized once (I think) in the show, by Lil in FWWM. Any appearance of a physic...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I love the end of Episode 27 too. In the episode discussions on that particular one, there's a lot of talk about how that sequence came to be and how much they knew about 29 (as at that point it had been scripted to be something very different with the Red Room only playing a tiny part, not the who...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

I was intrigued by her scenes especially the one of Hawk coming to visit her which I loved and felt more like the show I wanted. But I would've preferred had they kept it to her being psychic ("spooky" as Maddie and Laura put it) and having visions of the Lodge, perhaps the Woodsmen, find...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

It’s a difficult scene for me, because, assuming that it actually occurs and isn’t some fever dream of Sarah’s, it takes her all the way into literal physical supernatural monster-channelling territory, as opposed to her being one of the gifted and the damned, (as MIKE memorably put it), and able t...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

where old women are not particularly seen as desirable but at best motherly (at worst as pathetic) while young women are very much reduced to their beauty and objectified by the older men and so on and so forth. What about the bar scene with Sarah Palmer? The trucker creep objectifies her the worst...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

There's also Grace Zabriskie's sobbing in the Pilot that has the anecdotes about viewers (including at screenings) not knowing how to respond to it. That actually pops into my head first when I think of deliberately stylizied Lynch performances. I've also had reactions when showing the Pilot to othe...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

My post was totally out of line—Lynch and Frost owed us nothing in hindsight, least of all more Twin Peaks with fifteen minutes of agent Dale Cooper (?). Sometimes it’s easy to forget that The Return was undoubtedly universally unequivocally loved by all who watched it except for myself and a coupl...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

You undercut my opinion by saying it’s universally loved on letterbox, which I don’t appreciate nor care about. Sorry to butt in, but that's not at all what they said. It's true this is all subjective--but I think when you veer outside the subjective into declaring fact (ie, "you have to play ...
